I enhanced photo in "Roxio", saved it in jpg format, opened it in "Microsoft Picture It!" then tried to save the changes, it won't let me.  Also tried to save it without any changes except file name change, still won't let me save it.  What can I do so that I can take advantage of both photo programs???  HELP Please.

Microsoft Picture isn't a Roxio product.

Thanks for responding.  I first edited my photo in Roxio, saved it in on my desktop, opened the same picture in a different program "Microsoft Picture it" edited it some more then tried to save the changes but it won't let me.  It doesn't make sense why once it has been edited by Roxio Creator 9 I cannot save further changes created by a different program (MS Picture it 7.0).

It really all depends on what PictureIt! will let you do, but check on the file attributes before opening it (right click, go to properties) - if the box saying 'ReadOnly' is ticked, clear the tick box

Also, try using 'Save As' and give it a different name

btw - this is all presuming the photos aren't on a CD - if they are, you can't save to there

Thanks for the suggestion.  Properties, Attributes : Read Only box is not checked. Photos are on my computer.  I   also tried this:

Opened picture in Microsoft Picture It! edited a picture, did "save as", closed it.  Opened same picture in Roxio, edited it further, did "saved as", closed it.  Opened it again in Picture it, tried "save as"  it won't allow me to.

tried this too:
Opened picture in Roxio, didn't do any editing just did  "save as", closed file, then opened the picture in Microsoft Picture It, didn't make any changes just tried the "save as", it still won't let me save it.

I also opened picture in Microsoft Picture It that had not been opened in Roxio to see if I could "save as" and was able to.

What's up with the Roxio program, once you have saved a file there it can not be changed in another program, at least not in Picture It!

To me it sounds more like a problem with PictureIt! than EMC - EMC is letting you open, edit and save - PictureIt! is being balky about what it's being asked to do.

I don't use PictureIt! myself (I use PaintShop Pro) so I can't be definite on that, but maybe a search of the Microsoft forum or their kb articles may have an answer

Thanks.  I opened the photo that I had enhanced with ROXIO in Corel Photo 6, edited it and was able to "Save As".  I wonder why MS Picture It! won't let me edit after it's been edited by Roxio?  Any suggestions?  You guys been great!

Something is amiss with PictureIt! it would seem

Did you check on the Microsoft knowledge base (or their forum) for any other reports on this happening?

Do you get any message from Picture It! that might give us a clue?  I assume there's some sort of message, what is it?
