[b]I have tried 8 times to install the software from the cd's on my newer computer running XP and after 4 green bars during copying new files I get Error 1309 error reading from file E:\program files\roxio\easymedia creator7\...\filelist.xml verify that the file exists and that you can access it, any thoughts, help?

If your computer is running IE7, that may be the problem though some have gotten most of EMC7 to install without the use of some of it's programs (MyDVD and VW).
