I am running Vista, EMC9. I have a Hauppauge win tv pvr (26XXX). I am converting old 8mm through my composite inputs (Analog) Everything works fine except when I set a capture limit it quits and says lost signal. How do I set it for 2 hours and let it record everything, even if it has a 5 second (no video) in between clips. It keeps dropping out. It appears the capture video only allows for 1 video capture and not multiple scenes. There must be a threshold set somewhere that states after (Example) 3 seconds then stop recording?? Please help....Chris

That's your problem. Backk in the analog days, people use to forward the tape a little between 'takes' so they would know where to stop/start viewing. Unfortunately, that doesn't work well in the digital world. As far as I know there is no way around this. When Media Import recognizes 'no signal' then it assumes there is nothing else to record and stops. It does the same thing with digital tape.To get Media Import to capture a full tape, there can be NO GAPS in the recording anywhere. You can then split the recording into scenes automatically or manually after capturing a full tape.

Gary,
Thanks for the fast reply, I am one of those people. I was hoping there was some option like a detect scene which would come on and off and record each segment. Again, thank you for the fast reply.

For analog capturing, there is no way to detect scenes while recording. Unfortunately if you have those blank gaps on your tapes, you're only choice is manual capturing.

How does one manually capture? The Media Capture program either captures or it doesn't. Is there some other program that will allow me to do the capture manually?

Please start a new thread for your problem. Your problem is not at all like the original poster unless you have exactly the same hardware and setup.
Its not as simple as "The Media Capture program either captures or it doesn't". Capturing depends on the type of capture device you are, the source, the connections used, the software you are using, etc. You have given no such information at all so it is impossible to offer any help
