I have an HP a6009 running Vista Home Premium (32 bit OS). My antivirus program is Trend Micro PC-cillin .I am installing from the box version.
After installing Easy Media Creator 9, I ran 'Home' , selected 'Applications' and selected 'Creator Classic'. My screen blinked and the program did not run. I then selected 'Digital Media Experience' and the screen displayed the logo for 'Digital Media Experience' and then returned to Roxio Creator 9 Home. Most other applications when selected, blink and do not run. ('Audio CD', 'Jukebox Disc', and 'Convert CDs' do run however.)
After that, I looked at RoxAnn, the FAQ, and the forum to find info on my problem. I found the following post: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000127CR
I followed all of the instructions, reinstalled Easy Media Creator, and tried again with the same results. (In fact, I have tried reinstalling several times and the problem is still the same.
I then created a ticket for tech support and they said the problem was caused by caused by "cleaning utilities within certain antivirus programs which are removing files needed for the program to run." They gave me a link to a repairer program, but did not give any instructions on how to use it. Does anyone know how to use it? Do I run the patch and then reinstall the program? Or do I uninstall everything again (following the instructions in the forum post), run the patch and then reinstall? Or do I just run the patch with my current installation?
Does anyone know how to run the repairer program or know another solution to my problem?
Any help is much appreciated.
Dan
After install, programs won't run, just blinks!

As far as I'm aware, you just run the program (after following all the steps outlined in the kb article including uninstalling the program)
I'm a bit surprised that Tech support blamed 'anti-virus' for causing it. It's not the AV but the Norton WinDoctor (from Norton Utilities) and the McAfee equivalent but what that does is to turn a registered copy into a 'trial expired' one and I don't think that's your problem

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Well, I don't have Norton installed on my computer at all, so that can't be causing the problem.
Tech support responded to my ticket request for further instructions on running repairer which were to disable my antivirus and to run the patch program which I did. I am still having the same problem though.
Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing my problem. My machine is fairly new, so I do not have much software installed.

You didn't say what OS you are running but try (in Vista) installing as Administrator and (for XP) set up a new account with Administrator privileges and see if it installs in that

I am running Vista. After following the Vista clean install procedure twice with NO positive results, I did another attempt, but instead of just running the setup program, I right clicked it and selected 'run as adminstator'. This has not helped either.
I am suprised that Roxio does not have some sort of dianostic program that can be run on a Vista system to find out why their software is not running correctly.

Since the applications would not run from either 'Home' or from the 'Windows Start Menu', I wondered if the .exe files would run if I would run them from Windows Explorer.
I navigated to the 'Creater Classic 9' folder and double clicked 'Creator9.exe'. The program did not run. I then right clicked on it and selected 'Run as administator'. The 'Roxio Creator Classic' began to run! So my problem is related to some kind of security issue.
Now my question is, what is the proper way to fix this?

It sounds very like a faulty install - what you have in Start Menu are just links to the apps - and they seem to be going belly-up.
Short of a complete install, maybe you could right click on the main .exe files, drag them over and 'make shortcut' and then paste those into the Start Menu (replacing the ones there)

Try right click on each EMC .exe, properties, compatibility tab, check run this program as an administrator
Or maybe something in here would help:

PS I should point out I don't have Vista, so my little knowledge of it is entirely book based :-)
