I upgraded from version 7 to 9 because my computer now has IE7. When I first installed 9 I was able to make one DVD and burn a CD. A week later I tried to use it again and found the following:
DVD creation - adding a new movie: nothing happens other than an indication at the bottom of the window that so much space eg 900MB has been used and 3.6GB remains. I am not able to view the .avi file, or see it come up in a preview. The screen is black and no menu appears. Nothing I try changes this, but the program is not crashed or hung, just isn't showing the video file or menu items.
CD burning - I get repeated indications of needing to put in a fresh CD-R, or that the recorder is busy. I read some of the forum notes on incompatibilities with Drag to Disk so I uninstalled it. No change. I'm also no longer able to burn a CD with Windows Media Creator, which worked fine prior to the v9 install.
I did a complete delete and re-install (I think it's called a fresh install) per the instructions in the forum and have seen no change on either the DVD or CD side.
I have IE7, Windows XP Pro and a dual-core machine. Any ideas?

Get rid of IE7.
