Burning Problems--Continuation Video Card

I'm the guy w/the GeForce 4 MX420 that was having all kinds of problems... I contacted Roxio tech support and they gave me steps like disabling my startup programs and services, going to the EMC program via the start menu, etc...and still the program hangs at the "analyzing data" screen.

If you'll read the previous threads I have also defragged, updated DirectX and the drivers and still no luck.

I have a Dell 512 RAM, 80Gig Hard, (with adequate space) 2.4 mhz cpu, a TDK 8X DVD burner and the video card as outlined above.

Question(s): would you think it's the card that's giving me the problems? Would you think a new card with 128 memory would solve this problem?

The benefit of your wisdom will once again be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Personally, I'd go for a 256 MB graphics card - the price difference isn't that great and any of the mid-range nVidia or ATI based cards will do the job for you

In addition to what Daithi said, I would upgrade that RAM to a minimum of 1 GB.

Thank you! From what I describe, do you think it is the video card that is the problem?

Thanks to you, too. With the prices being what they are, maybe I should just get a whole 'puter smile.gif

Your computer, although a little low on kick, should be much better with the suggested upgrades. But, there is nothing like a new computer. smile.gif

I went out and BOUGHT a new computer, with all the suggestions that are listed above. I'm still having problems with the program, although not the same problem as you. Keep hanging in there - it should get better.

If you are having a different problem, please do NOT tack a 'me too' on to an existing thread.

Start a new thread and say just what problems you are having, along with system specs

There weren't any specific problems that this thread indicated - just that there were 'all kinds of problems' from a different thread that was created. 'Me too' was the response to the possible issue about the video card and just so happens that I have the nvidia card, also, on an upgraded system, and that upgrading might not be the route to take. The person who started the thread has someone commiserating with him. Pardon me if I've done something wrong.

Actually he said right at the start what the problem was

"I'm the guy w/the GeForce 4 MX420"

That's his problem right there and we gave him advice on that issue - you don't have that problem and you didn't say what problem you ARE having

Unfortunately I flunked mind-reading 101 so it would help if you started a new thread and told us just what is going wrong, along with your hardware specs
