Brief description of what happens after running EMC9 I have a windows installer window pop up with the following message "the resource you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'napster msi' in the box below." Result trying to click on the box results in a crash along with error. One member (Jude) had the same problem and I updated the px engine with no results. Here is a short list of what I have done so far:

Well I updated the px engine with no remarkable result or improvement. It has been a couple of years but I do not remember having napster on the computer and it could have been a trial version. I have the same problem as Jude posted and in her post I did not see the reply to her post on a fix other than updating the px engine. Did she download napster or napster trial version? MY history is as follows: I had cyberlink power dvd, nero 6, napster has a bin file and and thumb image file only on my computer. I purchased from a walkin and installed with no problems on the computer. Whenever I would run EMC9 I would get a temp pop up windows installer window telling me , 'the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailabel....enter alternate path to folder containing the installation package 'Napster Burn Engine.msi then the 9 home page would open blocking the windows installer in the background. After a few program crashes and I searched for answers and have read and researched and decided to try to do a suggested clean install. But not before I deleted cyberlink power dvd which I thought might be the problem.(wish I had kept that) I updated the px engine and then I tried to repair in add and remove with the cd program but the problem exists the same with no improvement.

thanks for reading.

I'm a bit confused here - are you saying that you get a failed Napster install message?

If so, download the latest Napster and once that is finished, go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and remove it. That should get rid of the installer and any remnants

Napster was part of an earlier Roxio suite but was dropped a couple of versions ago (round 7.5 if I recall correctly)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

It is the windows installer that opens after I run EMC9. It opens and is active with the above message about 'the resource' ..'napstermsi'..., It is the windows installer that opens and is open and hidden by the EMC9 homepage.

'the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailabel....enter alternate path to folder containing the installation package 'Napster Burn Engine.msi

Do as I suggested - download, install and then remove the latest version of Napster by using Add/Remove programs

Problem resolved. Thanks for all the help and interest. I went in and manually removed a couple of leftover files from ( i think trial ) Napster. Then cleaned registry and restarted and used MSI to remove the Napster Burn Engine. Works like a charm and the very first dvd I burned is the best coaster I have in the house! Just kidding, retry with perfect results on my first dvd and everything seems to be fine. I can't remember all the names but thanks to all and hopefully you won't see me in here for some time, I hope!

You're welcome - but drop in any time (especially to the Tips and Tricks section) for, well, tips and tricks on using the software laugh.gif
