Despite your long post you have not really given much information. What program component are you using? Slideshow assistant, Videowave or myDVD? Each one of these can be used to create a slideshow and each one behaves differently. The best one to use is Videowave which gives the most flexibility. Also which version of EMC 9 do you have? Also the fact that your Laptop has all the bells and whistles still does not mean that it is able to handle all the video features of EMC 9. You have a on-board video card/controller and they often have problems with EMC 9. So please list you computer make/model especially video card so the hardware can at least be eliminated as causing a problem.

Use VideoWave, instead of the Assistant. There have been problems reported by folks who use the Assistant.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try. However, wouldn't it be nice if everything worked? My original plan was to buy just the program that moves pictures to DVD, however was convinced that THIS was the way to go. I should have stood my ground...

I don't quite understand what you mean by "My original plan was to buy just the program that moves pictures to DVD". That sounds like all you wanted was a way to copy the photo files to a DVD, in other words simply create a data DVD. Windows Explorer would have done that but without the music

My bad. I should have been more specific. A while ago I found a program called Momento that allowed you to take pictures and make them into a slideshow presentation with music added in, along with transitions and panning within the slides etc., etc., however was a total resource hog and limited you to 1 hour or 50 photos. When I saw that Roxio had a similar program but with more room (can't remember the name of the program right now), I thought it would be a great move-up. Got to the store, was told about all the great features of Roxio EMC9 and thought that it would be a better idea instead - I might not use all the features now, but I probably will eventually. A tad disappointed is all, as I'm trying to put something together for a wedding I did the photography for. I CAN say that, for the most part, I have been getting a lot of great tips, tricks and hints on how to make this work from these forums. I guess I'm a little too new at this 'buying programs' process and I expect too much. Like to have all the features work without having to resort to all sorts of workarounds.

Just use Videowave to create your slideshow and stay away from the "wizards" such as SlideshowAssistant. In most cases they are very limited in what they can do. I think it would be a good idea if you ran some of the tutorials and read some of the posts in Tips & Tricks. Despite the name Easy Media Creator is not that easy to learn and you have to stick with it and experiment. And never try to run a new program under a deadline!

Thanks, Walt. You, of course, are right. I just had hoped that it would be easier and I was going to have to resort to my old Momento program that I still have. Thank you for the suggestion, I had been provided with the direction to Videowave in another discussion and I'm champing at the bit to leave work so that I can go home and try it!

THe tutorial done by sknis is very good and should get you started. I would suggest that initially you try small projects and burn them to RW DVDs until you get more familar with all the features. Asking questions here on the forum will usually get you answers

Yeah, the Assistant has a maximum of 100 photos. VideoWave is virtually unlimited in the number of slides that can be used, but I never went beyond about 375. I figured that anymore, and my audience would be yawning.

I'm trying to get Videowave working, but my laptop is telling me that I need something added to Windows Media Player and I get the redirection. I go there, and I have to go to another page for the prerequisites - any help?

It seems to be an add-on for older versions of WMP and is more to do with DRM than functionality
