I'm having a terribly frustrating problem with video wave. I have created a production with photos, video clips, music and the native sound track of some of the video clips. While editing the content (deleting or moving portions around) or trying to add background music or just shortly after loading the production on, a box comes up saying that video wave has encountered a problem and must close down. It will do this CONSTANTLY! and will only allow me to make a few changes before it decides to close down. Quickly learning from this bad experience, I now save after almost any and every change, but it's aweful because it also takes forever to save. This is only a 30 min. production (which I am trying to trim to an even shorter lenght). I have a 6 month old system which is up to date, and I've checked for updates on the EMC9, but none applied. Live chat left the chat on me after two short inquiries on my part. Any ideas? sad.gif

Can you give us some computer specs - CPU and speed, amount of RAM and the graphics system?

I think that model has the 256MB GeForce 7300 graphics chipset - if it's fixed memory, that's fine - if not, allocate more memory in BIOS to graphics

Also, go to www.nvidia.com and download and install the latest drivers from there (MS and computer makers very rarely have the latest ones. Also, download and install DirectX from Microsoft (that's not available as a 'normal' update for some reason (it used to be, but they stopped doing it)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

This too is one of the problems I keep having! I have updated my graphics drivers to the most recent... and have also gone back to old ones to see if THEY work... Still the same problem. sad.gif

Unless you have the same model laptop with the same graphics chipset it's doubtful if you have the same problem.

Start a new thread, in that say what your CPU is, what speed it is, how much RAM you have and what graphics card you are using (or what chipset in the case of a laptop)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I am having the same problem. It is so frustrating. You have described it exactly and I have spent untold hours with support and web tickets. My computer is new, it is an HP media computer running Vista. I have had problems from the beginning and it is actually worse now. Don't know what to do??????

PLEASE - read all posts - the original problem was with a Dell - you have a HP. That's not even the same computer

In your case, HP is responsible for tech support on the software they supply, unless you have a full version of EMC9

In any case, do start a new thread instead of piggy-backing on several different 'me toos'

Using NEW HP with NVIDIA 8600 GeForce GS 3D card with latest drivers. Videowave does the same for me...

"encountered a problem and has to close down." Done this many, many times. This is just one of the many problems with EMC 9. Very buggy!

I went to nvidia to download drivers as recommended and they rerouted me to dell to get them there. Dowloaded several drivers (anything to do with video card and comms). Still experiencing the same problems. After hours of invested time, specifically on my last project, not to mention the cost of the software, I am DONE WITH IT! My neighbor has SONY VEGAS MOVIE STUDIO and has never experienced any such problems with it, so I am moving on to sony. Hope everyone puts this stuff in the trash! I would never recommend this software to anyone! And one more thing, thanks to everyone who tried to help resolve my problem, it was very much appreciated. Roxio support sucked!
