When you upgrade you need to be careful because there were different versions available depending where you live.Open any of the application(Maybe Creator Classic),Go to Help,About and see what the build number is.Make sure you try and get the update that is for your version. Also you can go to the Home app,go to Help,Check for Updates and see if any are found that way.

Some helpful hints.
1. if you have a dial up connection, you may have to use a download Manager (go to cnet.com)
If you have a friend that has a Dsl or boadband connection or a local libary sometimes will allow you to download.
2. Close all back ground task for the exception of the download
4. Don't do anytging else on your computer while downloading
3. Sometime you also have to close your antivirus or set it to allow downloads
These are just a few helpful hints

If you want a little more control, and this part can be tricky, click on the right angle icon that is labeled edit audio envelop. You can click on the track to get a new point and then you can drag the end point down. The sound will begin to decrease at the point you added. I'm posting a image that shows this but it has a lot of extra points (I was still experimenting) you can do this anywhere on the sound track to lower volume when you have a video where you want the sound and raise it when you do not want it.

Can't upgrade patch becasue the program may be mission or the update patch may update a different version.....
I have no other versions installed.
Also, when I click on About, it tells me that I have Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home, Version 3.0.0 and Build 3.0.91a
Is this patch for this specific version?
When I click on "check for updates" under Help, I get the message that there are no updates available.

It would appear the update is not for your version. You may already be on the latest. To check the version you have, open Creator Classic, MyDVD, Videowave, or Disc Copier. then selct Help -> About. This should show you the version 8 build you are on. If it doesn't start wih 800, the update is not for you. If it starts with 805, you already have the latest.

I am having trouble installing the 8.05 upgrade to emc8. When I run the upgrade I getthe following error message: "The patch package could not be opened"
I've looked in the faq's but the only references I saw had to deal with v 7.5.
Any suggestions?
I'm running the retail version v 800B85c
Thanks,
Howard

Quite possibly, it is a bad download. Try it again, without using a download manager, if you used one before.
