Where's the Disaster Recovery ?

This button leads the customer to an Upgrade button, which paradoxically leads to an advertisement for EMC 10 which the customer is already running.
Is this the way this "feature" was meant to run, please? Are we doing something wrong?
Is there really NO DISASTER RECOVERY, or is there some other way of reaching it??

No, that's no answer to this query, Frank. It doesn't touch on the prominently placed "Disaster Recovery" button.
I was beginning to wonder if that is an advert for EMC10 that they've placed in BackOn Track, and then they've accidentally left it in the BoT that they included in EMC10.
But no, it can't be that because we still can't find the Disaster Recovery application in EMC 10, can we.

The upgrade message in the "Disaster Recovery" upgrade task in the Backup Central window is a mistake.
Disaster Recovery and Instant Restore will be available in the near future in BackOnTrack.

So Roxio is purposly selling an incomplete product with no warning to the customer?? That is JUST WRONG. I am glad I did not uninstall EC9 and still have Back-up My PC which worked great.

If you check the product feature for EMC10, you actually don't see any mention of Disaster Recovery or Instant Restore... so I wouldn't call it incomplete.

You can EMC 10 running alongside EMC 9. EMC 10 does remove the EMC 9 Cineplayer and Media Experience, but all programs run just fine in both versions.
BUMP is still there in EMC 9. At least, before the 9.1 patch, it is.

It was just that there is a prominent "Disaster Recovery" button which presently does nothing, and that raises questions. Has the installer malfunctioned again?
Tom has answered that question, but since that button is a prominent fitting for a feature which will be attached later, it makes the software look incomplete.

Will a user with EMC 10 only have to download Disaster Recovery, or will (s)he have to purchase it first?
How authoritative is this information, please?

Or your machine will cease to boot up! and nice BSOD will occur!
I did install it on an XP machine and it gave me a nice functionality I wanted, which is to take an IMAGE and ALSO be able to restore indivudual files from it, like you can with Ghost. Windows Complete PC backup just makes an image file that is useless escept for full disaster recovery.
Speaking of, i am hoping the updated BackOnTrak WILL include for VISTA a "snaphot" or goback type function.
Since Symantec is moving VERY slow in getting Systemsworks 2008 which is supposedly going to have GoBack , working for Vista with it, I would like to use the Roxio product.
I remember when Goback was a Roxio product
Anyway, can one of you guys from Rox let us know WHEN and IF that functionality will be available with BackOnTrak?
Mike
PS - I am not happy about the way you can not simply choose files to backup. I understand it is easir for a novice to choose BACKUP MAIL and PICTURES etc. but for someone wanting to backup fonts and other things in a backup set, this functionality is lost, without adding extentions in the options for each item and backing up everything...
I wish there was a way to have 2 interfaces.. so someone wanting to choose files CAN like they used to be able to... even Windows backup uses this novice approach now.

Mike, this is a users forum, and we are not Roxio. However, JohnatRoxio stops in regularly, so maybe he will see your post and get back to you.

I COULD get in with a diffetent computer, and I could get in with FireFox. I finally quit trying to get in with Internet Explorer, and after a length of time (probably over the 30-day expiration of cookies), I got in with IE and have not had any problems since then getting in.

It's the same thing if you reformat and re-install the OS. Obviously you won't have any cookies so you do need to go through the full rigmarole
