I had built a 40 slide movie with text in most of the pictures. Last week I closed my system for the night and when I cam on the next day the system would not let me edit my text.

I rebooted, no success, I reinstalled, no success.

If I start a new slide show editing works but it does not work on any of my previous slide shows.

Any Ideas?

check the previous file properties (right click on them) and make sure they aren't set to read-only

I feel for you but at least it is not a 200 image slide show. unsure.gif In the future use VideoWave or the Slide Show Assistant under Photos to build your slide shows. Other people have had problems with the one in MyDVD and no one has ever come back and posted a work around.
