Putting the SDcard into a USB2 reador gets the same runtime error message.

Just discovered, now that I've installed Creator 8 (also running Creator 7) I get a runtime error when trying to download pictures from my Canon camera.
Putting the SDcard into a USB2 reador gets the same runtime error message.
Assuming that it's related to the Creator 8 installation, what do I have to do to fix the problem?
