Whenever I open EMC 10, I get a dialog box that opens like it wants to install something.  Then prompts me with this message:

Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite.msi' in the box below.

This is a version that was downloaded from the Roxio site.  I have tried to repair the install, same issue.  I have completely uninstalled EMC 10 and get the same problem.

In fact I have had this error with previous versions of EMC on CD, with no fix.

I am running Windows XP Professional.  All Windows updates are current.  Please help if you can!  Thank you! smile.gif

Here are screen shots of the window that pops up.

Try the Windows Installer.  Download it from MS, run it and see if it helps. I'm not sure it will work but I had a similar problem during v9 and this helped me.

Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!  I will try that and let everyone know!  I appreciate your replying. smile.gif

Tried installing the Windows Installer.  Here's what I get, a dialog box that says:

"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.  There is no need to install this update."

Sorry, there's a newer version here but I'm not sure that you might not already have this version to.
I'm not confident that this is even going to help you but we can at least rule this out.

I installed it successfully.  But now need to reboot.  Is there anything I need to know before I try this after the restart?  Thanks again!

No, after reboot, try again.  If that doesn't work, then I think you'll have to uninstall the product using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utililty and remove EMC10 with it.  Sometimes installing and uninstalling a product messes up the Installer configuration of a program and the cleanup utility will help this.

Sorry, thought it might work without you starting over.  Some are luckier than others.
Let us know how it goes.

Give this a shot also. It seemed to help with EMC 9, but I haven't had anyone confirm if it makes any difference in 10 yet.  I actually had this same problem with my VPN client and the same fix worked, but I didnt have the problem with EMC, so I cant confirm if it fixes it or not.

Not to interupt, I tried all the previous, I still can't get mine to install. I am running Windows Vista Home Prem. I think that I'm going to have to return it to the place I bought it. I've never seen such problems. I hope they get these problems ironed out. I've used Creator 6 & Photosuite 5 with great sucess.

I would say that you aren't interrupting anything, since the last post, prior to yours, was over 3 months ago.

Good luck on the refund.
