Does the printer work? If not, reinstall the printer drivers.

The printer works fine , I printed several DVD covers last night , and the service ends up being "started" even though I get this error every boot AND set the service to start up "manual" at boot , I have searched and searched and nothing pops up like this.
I was hoping someone here had a similar setup as mine and could shed some light.
The one this I haven't tried is the printer on my network , I will try that now and see if it works.

At startup, error 'HP CUE status has stopped working'
Not a major issue, but maybe something in Roxio (?) and HP don't get along well.
I uninstalled the driver for capture device Dazzle DVC170
Reinstalled the driver
At reboot, the HP worked OK, no error message and HP status worked OK
Reboot again
Then same error on HP systray startup 'HP CUE status has stopped working'

An HP printer problem, nothing new about that!
Did you contact HP?

Howdy Frank ,
I know you don't want to disable the HP CUE but I have done so and nothing has changed , "my" printer and all functions work fine. However if your ink levels get low it will/may not warn you so you have to check them through the printer properties instead.
I hope Roxy gets on the ball and patches this soon but till then if you want to get the error to go away you need to do Run/msconfig - Choose "selective startup" - then go to the startup tab - HP Digital Imaging HP all in one series (NOTE: there may be more then one , do not disable the auto update scheduler) - then look for a path ending with " hpqtra08.exe" - uncheck the box - reboot - you will get a warning that you are using a selective startup , check the box not to warn you again and now the HP error should be gone , mine is.
NOW , print this out and when Roxy decides to fix this (if ever) you can ALWAYS go back into msconfig and check that box back in and your HP CUE will start as usual.
Disclaimer: This is how I fixed my error , my printer is the HP All in one 1311 series , it is networked through my Vista PC and used by 2 other XP PC's on my wireless network and I have had NO ISSUES doing this.
As a matter of fact , HP just sent me a very large update last week through the auto updater and it went in like butta. Its been a couple of weeks now and no problems here. HOWEVER , you might have problems if you do it wrong , OR if your printer needs something in that systray program , but IMHO it really would hurt nothing to try , you can always reset it.
good Luck.

I stopped it from starting at startup through msconfig and all the functions of my printer/scanner/copier work without issue even networked , I posted above how to do it that way and if it doesn't work for you you can always re enable it no harm no foul. HOWEVER I have the full Vista/HP printer software installed form the HP website.
but its up to you.
and yse , I also hope for a patch so I can use it again even if only for the ink level indicator.
Good luck

Just to clarify and reiterate , what julianekg said is partially correct if you disable the Digital Imaging monitor (through msconfig) you can no longer use the "buttons" to scan with , However , you CAN still scan and print copy normally if you do it from inside the HP Photo smart Essential program or the Vista printer scanner program , My networked printer is on top of a tall desk and I can't even see my buttons and can just get prints into the bed to copy or scan , so this is not a big deal to me or any of my networked PC's , BUT Roxio needs to release a patch because it cannot be anything that would take a huge amount of time to figure out and just seems to be an unnecessary PITA , I have already posted the error info at the top of this thread and I'm SURE they all look the same.
This is NOT a HP driver problem , the HP software worked with massive other programs and apps without issue till I installed EMC 10 , this must , even in the unclearest terms , indicate a minor incompatibility with this nessessary HP printer service and something that starts with the Roxio sniffer (or something)....but the HP drivers were here "Trouble Free" first.
PS: I have restarted the service to see if the latest "hotfix" fixed this problem...it didn't.
I still LOVE EMC10 , its seems to be the most complete and very nicely laid out program of its type and it just plain does what I want and works when I need it to.

Their drivers are as sturdy as a snowflake!
I have seen mouse drivers melt them into a useless puddle.
This is not a Roxio issue! If you don't contact HP you will never get it to work.

I think I have already tried that But I will look again. Thanks for the tip.
I will also contact Hp.....so I can here them blame it on roxio.
::::EDIT::::
I have looked in both the main program and in Media manager for the Start with windows option and I don't see it anywhere , I know I made the media watcher Icon go away already though , that was the FIRST thing I did when I installed EMC10.
Any help on where this option is would be much appreciated.

I am glad that I didn't move up to Vista. Open Media Manager, click on Tools, then click on Stop watching folders. That should stop if from running at startup.

No it doesn't - still runs at startup and appaers in the system tray with a red cross across the icon. Still get the "HP Cue Status stopped working" message.
Any other suggestions?
