Now that I have gotten the dreaded BlockPlanner 234 error, I would find it extremely helpful if the progress windows would display the identity of the module/title/whatever that DVDit is working on.  Similar to the creating.....mt2s display that at least shows the number of the seqment that it's working on.

Since my error shows up after about 2 1/2 hours into the transcoding business, I'm hard pressed to know which seqment is wrong.  I have reviewed the last half of them, the last 5 out of 10, but I see nothing out of alignment.  Since my NLE (Avid Liquid) gives me elementary streams, I have to import both the video and audio files and put them back together in DVDit.  I had thought I might have attached the wrong audio to the wrong video, but that doesn't check out.

The irony is that this project burned to Blu-ray without any trouble.  No changes were made and now I'm burning a SD DVD image for my technically challenged friends.   I would have thought that the HD burn would be "more picky" than the regular version.

I still like this product 'cause it produces such high quality output, but I thought I would make a suggestion that would improve on it.

Thanks,
john

usually a vobulator error on SD DVD output means that you have a trim at the head, a trim at the tail and a chapter point very near the end of the clip.  in that case, if you remove your last chapter point it should successfully create your disc...

I knew that from reading your responses to other posts regarding this error.   I'm just having trouble finding it so I can fix it.  As I said, all of my titles look clean at the beginning and end, so I'm just not sure which one is the problem.

I did put chapter marks at the end of all of the titles,  so that the chapter advance button would work going to the next title, same as a chapter.  I would jump to the end, back up a dozen frames, and mark it.  I  removed those ending chapter marks straight away after having read your other posts.

Now, I'm looking for a mismatch between the beginning/ending of the video/audio.  That is what this error means, right.  But I'm not seeing it so far.   I suspect I'll know it when I see it...unless it has some different appearance??

Thanks, SScott.  I do appreciate you looking out for me.

unfortunately, it could also be a bad encode out of Liquid.  Why that passes through on a Blu-ray disc and not on a DVD I don't know...  What are you exporting out of Liquid?

As always, SS Scott, you are spot on.

I went back and removed all of the chapter marks from all of the title segments and was able to burn without errors.  Once I had the standard DVD in the player(s), I realized why I had gotten myself into this corner.  The chapter advance button on a standard DVD advances the player to the next title in the list without the need for a chapter mark.  My first Blu-ray burn would not do that,  but being such a clever fellow, I knew I could put a chapter mark within a few frames of the end of each title in order to create that effect on the Blu-ray.

So, the more pertinant question would be....is this the "correct" behavior with the Blu-ray spec?  Or could it be my Blu-ray player (the Panasonic DMP-BD10),  or is this feature not implemented in the DVDit software?

At least I've learned to add a few steps to my workflow when I'm switching from Blu-ray to standard.

Thanks again, SS Scott.
