Hi - I read Malatekid's tutorial on extracting audio from a DVD, but my problem is that my DVD doesn't have chapters since it was self-made from transferring a movie from the TV and then editing out commercials in Videowave. There are music tracks throughout the movie, however Music Disc Creator reads the DVD as one long chapter. What is the easiest way for me to get the music from this movie and then create a music cd from it? Is this more complicated then it's worth?? I also have the movie in an MPEG-2 file on my computer so I am assuming that I don't need to use the music from the DVD I burned. Thanks in advance!!

Open the Media Selector, select the mpg and right click on it. Select Extract audio. Then follow the rest of the prompts.

In addition to what Malatekid said, you can then bring that audio file into Sound Editor and cut out any parts that you want.

Would someone mind explaining a little bit about Sound Editor?? I now have this large audio extracted as one mp3 file, and I want to cut out all the speaking parts and just have the music left as separate tracks. I am playing around in Sound Editor but not sure what I am doing or if I am doing the right thing. Basically, I am splitting up the audio and then deleting anything that is speaking but keeping the music. I have so far completed one track, but I am not sure how to name it or even highlight it to play it properly. I am a little confused here. Thanks again - you are all the best!!

If you see the waveforms at the top of the screen, you should be able to click at the beginning of the clip, or down at the bottom, use the Play controls to go back to the beginning of the clip or track.

Ok, I have all my "clips" that I want, but I am just not sure how to name them. I have everything organized and in order of how I want it but don't know how to name them individually. I am not seeing an option to do this??

I am not sure of the best way to do what you want to two.  Before I go into an explanation, at the bottom of the screen, do you see each of the clips as separate clips?  If they are separated down there, it is going to make life a little easier.

Sorry it took so long to get back. Yes, they are separated into individual clips but my problem is that sound editor is recognizing it as one track.  I need to somehow change each clip to be a track. Thanks.

Okay, at the bottom of the screen, click on the first clip.  Now, go back to the top of the screen and see if that is the only waveform showing, meaning the other clips are not showing.

If it is the only clip showing, then click on File/Export Current Clip, then select a location where you want the clip saved, and also give that clip a name that you want.

You can also change what type of sound file you want it saved as, but I would save it as the same type of file it is now.

Do the same thing for each clip by first clicking on each clip, at the bottom of the screen.
