Hi,

I have several old (3 years) movie files that are (I think?) .DV files. The reason I say 'I think' is that I was only able to get them to play on my PC when I manually gave them a .DV file extension. They will open and play with Quicktime, but nothing else. If I remember correctly, these files were created with iMovie, converting direclty from a mini-DV or DV-CAM tape.

Is there any tool within Easy Media Creator Suite Version 9 (or 10) that will allow me to convert these files to mpeg or another video format? Also, I was under the impression that .DV files were relatively high quality, but they seem to be much lower resolution than the tapes that I remember watching on the Apple Macintosh editing station I was working at. Does that make sense?

Thanks!

They most likely are Apple QuickTime files and their quality will vary depending on many things…

VideoWave and MyDVD should not need any conversion to work with these files.

If you have some other need to convert them, load into VW and select File – Output As. There are about a thousand choices plus it will let you write your own.

One caution on quality. You cannot render UP. If the files are 240 X 160 you cannot make them better by rendering them to 720 X 480.
