hey all.

as ya can see i'm a newbie at this as it is my first post. I am just after buying easy media creator 9 as i was told that is was really easy to convert avi files so that i can play my movies that i have stored on my computer on my dvd player.

problem is............ i really haven't a clue what i'm doing. went to dvd copier and tried that but it got to 10% and ejected my disc. i don't think it was converting at all really. i'll repeat, haven't a clue what i am doing.

Have tried nero before to no avail. also have read alot of threads about this here and couldn't really follow them. if anyone knows of a thread that already covers this in simple terms or if ye want to help me out and explain it to me it would be really really appreciated.

thanks for ye're time.

Hi Bonnie, exactly what program do you have?  The stand alone Copy and Convert of the full EMC9?  I'm going to guess that you have the full suite so you should be able to import your avi files into MyDVD and it will encode these to compliant files to play on your DVD player.  Take a look at the MyDVD tutorial here. If I'm wrong about what you have, please post back with more specific information.

hi beerman.

thanks for your help. the tutorial was a great help. ya i bought the full easy media creator suite 9. was going to copier not my dvd. just tried it there and added my movie and then previewed it and it all looked fine so i clicked on burn. this message came up but don't understand what it means:

THe image file is estimated to be larger than 4gb, which is the max file size possible on the selected FAT32 drive. Are you sure you want to continue?

thanks beerman

This message actually has nothing to do with EMC at all.  Your file system is FAT32 and has a limitation so that file sizes larger than 4GB can't be created.  You can convert to NTFS which is easy (always back up your computer first) and will then work with larger file sizes.
Or, if you don't want to do this (I would) split your file into smaller chunks and work with them separately.

Glad you got it working.  I assume you went the NTFS route and not using smaller files which I feel is the best route.
Come back with any other questions your have.
