I am new to MyDVD EMC9 and I am trying to add text to a menu (what should be an easy process). My text only shows as colored blocks on the menu. I know what I have typed is there because is shows in the window in the upper left when I clieck on the text box.

After trying to create a multi-DVD backup of some data using this program and having that, too, fail, I am less than impressed with this product.

Any ideas since I also cannot get any technical support from this company?

List your system specs. It may be a problem with your video card/chip.

My text only shows as colored blocks on the menu.
You're not giving use much info. During EDITING or after final burn to disc? MyDVD give you three choices fro HIGHLIGHTING text so the viewer will know what they have chosen: none, outline and extent. When you choose EXTENT, it is a solid color block. As the person designing that menu, you have control over the color and tranparency of that block of color.

To change transparency of the block:
Make sure NOTHING is selected on the menu and VIEW/SETTINGS.
Select the second TAB , there are 3 color schemes.
The NUMBERS 0 to 15 control the transparency of the color block.
'0' is total see-thru '15' is solid color. '8' is about 50% transparency
To change the color of the block by clicking on the little colored square. You choose from the 'pallette'.

To change the 'pallette', click on the first TAB

Thanks and nice try, but nope.

This is in edit mode I am having this problem. I tried setting all three schemes, both main and secondary (selection and activation) to 0. Same result--solid block of color in the text box. Same at 8s. Same result at 15s. I have also tried this with the menu in several themes to see if I could solve it.

The machine is a 2.4 Ghz P4 with 768Mb of RAM. The Video card may be the issue, I will have to see, although I will say I have all kinds of other video and imaging software on this machine (Premiere, Photoshop, Sonic products) and have had no issues until now.

Other ideas? You have already been more helpful than the Roxio support that simply gave me a tutorial on how to start the program (no exaggeration!).

In case anyone else has this issue and Roxio support sends you down another road--be sure your video drivers are up to date. The suggestion that it was the card got me thinking about the drivers rather than the software, even though other apps have no issue, this app wants the latest driver. So, I updated and now it shows correctly.

Thanks for the replies and advice.
