I have used previous versions on DVDit and was not too impressed with the outcome of most of my projects, but at that time Encore was producing DVD's that performed exactly as I had created them to. In other words, everything worked as I wanted it to. Sometimes, in older versions of DVDit, I would set one chapter beutton to be a default, but another would be default in the finished product. Today, the tables have turned and DVDit Pro HD is by far the choice for professionals who need DVD authoring that really works! Of the last 10 projects I created, only 3 were successful in Encore CS3, but all ten were very easy to put together and the process was very smooth and accurate in DVDit Pro HD. After months of testing both applications, my company will be using DVDit ProHD as it's primary authoring program. Not only is the application better, but as a company Roxio aqnd their support team are the best around for any application we have used hands down. My hat is off to Roxio and the team behind DVDit Pro HD!

I have been editing video professionally for over 25 years and have been authoring CD's and DVD's since their inception. From the beginning I was using Adobe Premiere to edit video and eventually Encore to author DVD's.

complete opposite here, in fact this is the 1st time I've posted for quite some time as I've given up on this software and was just checking in to see if it's been upgraded or patched
I've not had a single successful build with DVDit using 3 different computers and 3 different operating systems. Yet I have not had a problem with Encore CS3 (as I didn't with Encore 1 & 1.5 for DVD's before that).
I've also not found their tech support helpful in the slightest (the guys on the forums are officially tech support)
So, looks like it's 1-1 at the moment, but Roxio will probably get the better reviews on here as it's their forum
Still need some software that will accept MKV x264 files without having to do a lot of work on them 1st though

I agree mmace as I also tried for the first time to get a simple support but waited for days and the answer I got was to look into the manual page......
As I did not read the manual first before posting!!!
For the professionals under us support special if you are a newbie is the most important.
It is that first friendly word helping you that makes us decide to buy the software yes or no.
I am also working for 20 years and longer in broadcast, so I am not here with asking stupid questions
I with the coming of CS2 have been stucked in some new things, asked on the forum and in less than a minute I have been replied to by 3 other users.
You see that is something that really counts as both Encore or DVDit will do most of the job you are asking for but if you have a problem that you wanna get solved: support is the real thing that counts....

Support = man labour = expense.
Many software companies now only offer support via a paid support plan.
I dont really know where I stand on this- I agree you need some help from time to time but I do not believe it should be at the manufacturers expense. After all, who really reads the manual? Imagine being in support and getting hundreds of stupid questions per week from lazy people who dont want to study the software themselves, they just want quick answers.
Everyone wants the best software at the best price and with the best support.

Hi shueardm yes and no if you look at the price of the software you might like to expect a little kind direction advise so you can be on your way.
I like to add that many software companies do ask money for support but this is for advance support and training.
I wrote to support of Roxio but did not get even ONE reply back, for now 9 days!
And yes stupid questions is in my case not the right expressions, I just had a little question as I have been sucked and forced to go back to some one else who had Encore installed so I could make the deadline..
Believe me I am not here for with my postings to make a good advertisings for Adobe but at least they do have support, so my basic advise as broadcaster and spending lots of money for editing software Encore might be the best choice for now.
BTW the same critics for Roxio support can be seen in other forums as well.

I agree. The one time I went through the propper channel for support, I did not ever get a reply. Luckily we have Scott here.
Roxio support through the website is next to non existant and I have taken that on the chin because I realize that this is not a professional product and i should not expect professional support.
Jump up and down if you please but the fact is this is a cheap product. Now if I had paid $200000 for Scenarist HD then I would expect 24 hour service. That's just my point of view.

Well if you have 200,000.00 left for me please like to go on a little, just a little cruise
Just kidding..
But you are right although they claim that its professional..
Just want to figger out which software would be the best for creating and editing subtitles.. from here, Europe, its very important to have 3 or more languages inside a DVD production.
cheers, Peter
