I have a 24.9GB .m2v file that I am trying to import, but it is taking almost 1 /12 hours to import. I posted about this once before, but never really found a solution. Scott mentioned internet explorer 7 and Media Player 11 as being possible problems. I did have media player 11 on my system and un-installed it, but the problem is still there. I just don't know what to look for next. I ran the file through Gspot, and it reported back that the file was a 23.976fps mpeg2 elementary video with a resolution of 1920X1080.

If possible I would start with a clean PC if possible and install DVDit first and see if you still have the problem. If you do then there is something with your clip that it's having a problem with...

This is a clean PC, incuding new OS (XP Pro). After un-installing Media Player 11, I re-tried importing and it finally did import, but it still took far more time than it should have. I didn't time it, but it was 10's of minutes.
aLSO, I noticed media player does not play any of the files, but Cyberlinkl and power DVD will play them.
I wonder if there is some kind of codec issue. I don't know how to check. Should they be listed in some order?
I used Gspot270a on the system and it shows my codecs are all ok. Also, my blu-ray burner, the Sony BWU-100A crapped out on me. I can burn DVD's CD's and watch blu-ray discs, but can not burn to a blu-ray disc. I don't think this is related, but I ordered a Panasonic burner asd I have about 10 discs backed up so far to burn.

since your spending money on a new burner... Some time back, Mark from On2DVD suggested to a few users that similar latency issues might be due to bad RAM. not insufficient RAM, but bad RAM. At least one user wrote back that they were successful after eliminating the bad RAM. The post was pretty compelling...

Based on Scott's reply, I would setup on another machine (that best matches the original) and see if the import times are better or the same.

I ran memtest86 program as suggested and memory passed all tests so it's not a memory issue.
I tried on another system and got similar results. I guess I'm used to working with SD and need to me more patient with HD. I just don't remember other projects taking so long to import. We'll see what happens on the next project. Thanks guys!
OK, I recently finished another project and everything was fine, so I must have had some bad media that was the cause of the long import times.
