I hadn't realized it before, but after capturing some audio using EMC 9.1 (what you hear) from a Microsoft PPS and then editing it in Sound Editor. I used the option to fade in and out for several seconds. Then I saved the production aa a DMSE project but also as a plain old wav file. Based on what I thought by the remarks in the sound editor program when you save an audio edit, you will probably loose some of the characteristics you started with.

Well after saving it as a simple wav file, I found out that the fade in and out was still there. I hadn't realized you could save that part of the edit. Works great.

I've never had any problems saving the edits I make in Sound Editor (including different sound effects, clean up options, mix clips, fade in/out, whatever). I always use and save to wav throughout all editing, only convert to other format (if needed) at the very end.

The text in the attached is what I was referring to Jean. I'm still not sure just exactlt what "Changes" they talk about will NOT be saved. But I thought that the fade in and out might be one of them.

Ah, I had not noticed that, probably because I don't use the save option much. After editing a file, I usually export rather than save. It then creates a new file, processing the loaded wave form to apply the effects and other edits. There are several export options, depending on what you want (e.g. if you have set track markers you can export individual tracks as separate files, or export a mix, etc.).

Yeah Jean, I do a lot of editing audio files and I use Sound Editor a lot. Then after I edit them I pretty much save them as wav files. Not to often do I save them as a dmse file.
