Hello @ *,

have some problems in rendering motion menus in DVDit. for creating my backgrounds i used mediastudio 8 and rendered the movie in several resolutions, 1440x1080i (as it came from my canon hv10, 1920x1080i and 1920x1080p. i also rendered transition menus in these resolutions. and now the problem: dvdit stretches the background video of the menu in height so that parts on top and bottom are missing in the rendered menu and the whole menu is distorted in height. the problem is present in all three resolutions. the transition menus are not distorted - they don`t contain any buttons, only the background video (smart render?). main movie also works fine with 1440x1080i.

Does anybody has an idea how to fix this? Maybe i should post some example pictures?

Thank you for help and sorry for my bad english

Lars - the one who`s despaired trying to render a vacation video :-)

Hello Lars,

I had the same problem using 1440x1080 format for the motion menus. I converted my video file to 1920x1080 and the problem was solved for the motion menus. For you main videos, as you wrote, there is no problem using 1440x1080.

Regards

Patrick

Scott,

As HD is widescreen only, I didn't try this option so I cannot say if it works or not. I went directly to the square pixel format.

Thank you first for answers. Have been busy with cutting...

Rendering other resolutions for the menu background in my video editor (Mediastudio 8 from Ulead) i already tried (1920x1080 interlaced and progressive ) without success. Will look for the described menu options from SS Scott - maybe they are available in hd. If not - hmmm .... don`t kow ....

Problem is: In my main menu there`s a sunrise - beach background, in the right half of the picture there`s a round ship window (porthole - is this the right word for it?) and in this porthole are different video sequences running, some decoration around - will take a screenshot tonight. This all comes ready rendered from the video editor. I only added some textlinks in DVDIt.

In the transition menus i seperately fade the elements to black (first the deco, then the "porthole movie", then the porthole itself and last the beach background). The porthole in the main menu is not round - it`s an ellipse :-/ - the porthole in the transitions are round as they should.

The problem is - never seen an elliptical porthole - if i`m ready with cutting my movies and my problem isn`t fixed last thing i can do is declaring it as an airplane window rolleyes.gif they are oval.. oh - how funny - fishes from my porthole movie looking through an airplane window laugh.gif

Thank You all, will report ....

dropped you an IM. which build are you using? I think an updated build might fix that issue. If not, here is a potential (admittedly odd) workaround. Import your menu video as a timeline. what does the movie attributes window show as the aspect ratio? 16:9? change it to 4:3. You can then delete that timeline, but the change to 4:3 will change all incidences of that file to be seen as 4:3 by DVDit Pro HD. At that point, I would think that if you use the "stretch" option in the menu attributes window it will treat your circle properly...but then you will have to see if your video is matching up with your transitions.

Oh no - feel like a real beginner. Had success with the menu scaling options. I set it to letterbox and 1440x1080 works fine... Look at this :-)

Thank you very much!

So long
