Hello all,
I purchased an Epson R1800 to be able to print on DC/DVDs without labels. I want to use Roxio's Label Creator, not the Epson Label Creator. I can't seem to get my print lined up on the media. I put it in the special tray, and choose Printer Properties; Paper Options; "Source CD/DVD", Type CD/DVD, size stays at A4. Outside of properties, I select Media as "Print to Disc". This doesn't seem to be working.
I would be grateful if anyone who has an Epson R1800 or similar model could walk through the steps as it might help. I bought the printer specifically to use this feature, and I don't want to create the labels in the Epson software.
Regards,
Ken

I have an Epson R1800 and took me awhile to understand all the settings.
How to do it:
Open Label Creator 9
Select the DISC label
Go to FILE / Page SETUP
Choose Media: Print to disc Paper Type: Epson Stylus Photo R800
(R800 uses the same type tray)
Check Print Center/Core label if you have that type of blank.
At this point, design your label.
When finished click PRINT
First - make sure media and paper type match
At the top of this dialog box, click on printer PROPERTIES
For QUALITY, I use BEST PHOTO
Under Paper Options:
Source = CD/DVD
Type = CD/DVD or CD/DVD Premium surface
(Premium surface gives beter image but takes longer to dry and uses more ink)
Size should default to A4 which is what it should be.
Click OK
Make sure you have inserted the CD/DVD tray at this point and it is properly positioned and ready to print.
Click OK again to Print
If you have custom ICC for the disc, you can still use those with the printer's ADVANCED settings.

Gary,
I wanted to thank you for taking the time to respond. The steps you outlined worked perfectly. By the way, the quality was fantastic. I should be able to get a lot of use out of this functionality.
Once again, thanks for your help.
Regards,
Ken

Your welcome. Took me a few days to figure it out.
I knew the printer had the CD/DVD disc settings, but I assumed too much that the media/paper type in the Label Creator print dialog box changed those settings in the driver, too. Sorta silly to have that in two places. I just find it confusing.
For excellent results, I've used Best Photo and CD/DVD Premium surface. Uses more ink and takes longer to dry, but looks like the disc was printed professionally. If I'm in a hurry, I use Photo and CD/DVD settings. Still looks great, but colors are a little muted compared to the other setting.
