When I first plugged in Dazzle, Capture didn't even recognize the usb port, earlier, I did download the file you suggested , then Capture would at least recognize the port. So now I can select "Dazzle" in capture, but the picture in the preview window is a mess and reads "no signal". Thought I needed to download something from Pinnacle, but as I go thru the long list of downloads, I have absolutely no idea which one goes with DVC90. Thought maybe someone else had already done this. Tried support from Pinnacle, no luck. Thanks. MK

I have the yellow and white connectors coming "out" of the VCR into the Dazzle video-in, audio-in. Nothing in S video, then I highlight Composit video. Not sure what you mean by "RCA" cables. Willing to try anything. Thanks. MK

I decided to use a different set of cables to hook up from my VCR to Dazzle. My VCR uses a white and yellow connection - Dazzle has white, yellow and red. But now I can get a good picture but no sound - just a clikcing noise in the background. I'm getting closer. Any advice??? MK

Yellow: Composite Video
Red : Right Audio Channel
White : Left Audio Channel
Those are the 'standard' colour coding for the RCA leads
Hope that helps

You need a cord with all 3 ends or you can use 2 cords that have 2 ends and use one to connect the Audio and just use half of one to connect the video.

Thank you for the cable explanation. My VCR only has the yellow and white connectors. I attached White to white and yellow to yellow to the Dazzle converter. I again used another set of cables, and now under the "options"/audio input, I have a choice of Stereo Mix or Microphone. With previous cables, this was grayed out. I chose Stereo Mix. But nothing appears under "input". Should there be options? When I play the video I have volume cranked up and I can hear the VCR turning (background noise of the VCR itself). I know I am getting closer to solving this problem, but hate it when the computer knows more than I do. Thanks again, can't do this without you. MK

Try using microphone - or ask at your nearest electronics outlet if they have a 'Y' connector for RCA that will enable you to split the existing mono output and feed it to the two channels on the DC90

Some others have had trouble getting it to work in Vista under 9.0 but have had better luck after updating to 9.1.
Can't guarantee it will help. Also if you're already on 9.1 forget this.

Thanks, I will try upgrading to 9.1. I just hooked up a new VCR player, with stereo outputs, yellow, red, white, and still got the same results - good picture but only sound is a clicking, and whirring sound - no sound from the video. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks. MK

It took me a few tries to get it working.
Another thing to check is make sure you don't have the preview muted.

I was wondering if it had something to do between Dazzle and Vista, but I did check to make sure the preview window was not on mute. I did go to pinnacle, as I have NOT done an upgrade, but I can not figure out which download I need. The list is long and I can't seem to maneuver my way around and find one for DVC 90. When I look at the list of downloads, I,m not sure which one of the downloads I need, so to be safe, I didn't download any. Has anyone out there done this and which one do I need? I guess I'm just not up to date on all the programs out there and afraid of downloading the wrong program. Dumb Huh??? Thank you so much for the support as I plug along. MK

Thanks so much for steering me to the proper download from Pinnacle. I downloaded and installed, but no good. I do believe I figured out what noise I am picking up - it is the sound of my VCR running. So weird. No audio off the video, but can hear the VCR running. Have made sure all microphones are off, so don't know why that is happening. Going to try and get in touch with Pinnacle - tried before, but no luck. Patience, patience. thanks. MK

For those of you who have been so helpful, and for those of you who have been frustrated, I thought you might like to read this. Last night, after trying to work with Dazzle all day, I was tired, frustrated and ankles were swelling. I know you have all been there. So I decided to try one more time. Hooked up the newer VCR, turned on power, but DID NOT HIT PLAY. All of a sudden in the Roxio preview window I see a grainy movie playing, no audio, just a movie. I squinted my eyes, moved closer to the screen, and Low and Behold, "Dancing with the stars" was playing. Since I was the only one at home, I knew there were no TV's on, and believe me I checked over my shoulder to make sure I was alone. So I turned on the TV and sure enough, "Dancing with the Stars" was on at that time. Now, I am not a drinking person, but you can bet this may be a turning point in my life. I sat back and just laughed - ironic I can't get audio, but I can pick up TV signal somewhere in LA LA land. I have posted my problem in Pinnacle forums and also sent and EMail to their customer service. No luck yet, but very spooky around here. Wish me luck. MK

You don't by chance have any other capture cards in your machine do you?
As far as sound try this.Go to Control Panel,Sounds. When it opens go to the recording tab.Right click on one of the devices that shows.Hit 'Show disabled Devices".If any new things show up try and enable them.If you can then go back and see if you have any sound coming from the Dazzle. It could just be that the input it should use is disabled.
