Completed my first BD-R Blu-Ray, took it to Best buy, playes on the Panasonic , image is fantastic, (I had many onlookers!!)...Quesion I left all encoding settings on default this gave 800megs left on the disc after importing a motion menu, one minute, and a fifty-eight minute movie. Now looking at a one hr. and twenty minute Reception movie any suggestions on bit rates.... Gary

Did you use a BD-R? 800megs left for a 2 min movie doesn't make sense. You probably can fit 2-3 hours at 20mbps on a BD-R/RE (about 23 gig usuable).

The movie was 58 minutes, The motion menu was about 1 minute, this morning I checked the Disc and I could see only at most one half was used, I'm looking at the blue bar in the lower left corner and its shows about 80% full and indicating 794.62 MB remaining. Media used is a Panasonic BD-r 25gig....???. Thanks for the reply, any ideas. Gary

burn to ISO image and then use the program to burn that ISO to disc (Burn To Disc > From ISO). that way even if there is some misestimation you won't be prevented from burning.

Thanks for all of your help Scott, ya I don't know if the meter is off or what, since the actual disc has at least 50% left. I'm using the default bit rate, in you opinion hows that for 1 and a half hr. on the disc. Gary....

The estimator is not that good, I would suggest burning to volume and just to a properties on the folder to get a better idea of the size of your project.
