blink.gif This morning InstallShield UpdateManager offered me an Urgent fix, with the filename: cineplayer30updateto11c_w-aadwith75q.exe
That would not install, claiming something about Not designed for the version currently installed.
I then tried the link from http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=13761
which gets me a shorter name: cineplaye30updateto11cw-aad.exe
but results in the same failure to install.

What I have is a 10 month old HP desktop, running XP MediaCenter 2005. I thought CinePlayer might be part of Sonic DigitalMedia Deluxe v7, that was bundled with the computer. However, I don't see any mention of CinePlayer there. It is also possible CinePlayer is included by virtue of the TSST DVD+-Writer.

If CinePlayer 3.x should be Urgently fixed, any idea how I can proceed?

That happens every so often - you get a cut-down OEM version of the software with the computer and you duly register as a user of XXX v#

The next thing that happens is the database at the parent company spots you and knows there's an upgrade for the full version of the program - unfortunately it ain't smart enough to realise you have an OEM version so it messages you and you find out the upgrade doesn't work

Actually, and especially with HP versions, support and upgrades will come from the OEM and not the original company
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I'm not even sure CinePlayer is installed. HP setup the InstallShield Update Manager to check Sonic Update Manager. That suggests it is Sonic Update Manager that is not bright enough rolleyes.gif to know what is installed...

More that the server for the upgrades doesn't know you have an OEM version laugh.gif

Computers are basically idiots - they do exactly as they're told and if they're told the wrong thing, they blithely go ahead and do it anyway
