While using Creator Classic 9.1 to burn some jpegs to a CD-R (data disk) I noticed that the add button will only add 1 jpeg at a time.  Is this the way it is supposed to work? If I select more than 1 jpeg and hit the add button then nothing gets added to the burn window.  Selecting the first jpeg and scrolling down the list to the last jpeg and then holding the shift key and selecting the last jpeg will select the entire list but dragging them to the burn window doesn't always function.  It seems to be a bit touchy.  It works about 1 in 8 or worse.

Comments and suggestions?  How does it work on your system?

I was able to replicate your issue that the Add button does not add the selected multiple jpgs at the same time.

Workaround:
To add multiple jpg files, highlight the jpg files in the Select Source window pane and drag them to the Project window pane.

I have used that Drag and drop using the shift key and dropping them into the box below and it has always worked for me. Maybe it the particular version of EMC 9.1 that I have. (Running in Vista BTW)

Select the first jpeg, then depress the shift key and select the last jpeg in the list and then drag them to the project area works sometimes for me but not always. dry.gif

The add button on my system will not add more than 1 jpeg.  Roxio should enable that to work as an usability improvement. smile.gif

I agree the Add button does not work as it should when adding multiple files at the same time.

I should not have said workaround as drag and drop is a Windows feature. dry.gif

I do like the convenience of D2D but some do not believe that packet writing is all that reliable.  I have only been using EMC since version 5 so I am not an expert.

Malatekid is not talking about D2D (drag -to-Disc) but Drag and Drop which is a Windows operation

That is good Dave!

I was cured of drag and drop in Win95 when I slipped and dropped 50 files into the Windows Directory!

Use Copy and Paste ever since that long day of cleanup…

In fact I don't see any professionals using D&D, all use copy/cut and paste.

Windows drag and drop works reasonably well for my one time backup.  I did run into a warning type of message from Creator Classic:

"One or more paths in this project exceed the maximum length allowed by the current file system.  You may continue to burn but the files in these paths may not be readable."  The indicated path was 9 folders deep.

The burn successfully completed but I am now wondering if data is usable.  I was backing up a set of my program CDs to a DVD as a consolidation project.  The CD image in my master files (on disk) was a software installation disk.  The data is on the DVD so I will not know if it's usable unless I try to do an install.  I would prefer not to perform the install as it's a pain in the .....

You are using the Wrong files system!

File – Project Properties – UDF, No Bridge.

Otherwise you dragging the Joliet/ISO9660 anchor which limits you to what Win9/NT could read.

Jim,

Turn off validate files did remove the folder depth warning message. So, what is my exposure by not validating?

I have EMC 10 on XP SP2. In Creator Classic, Using Explorer view, selected several .jpg files in the top right pane, clicked Add, they were all copied to the project window. Repeated with the My Media view, same result. So whatever may have been a problem with the add button in EMC 9 seems to have been fixed in 10.

Jean,

Thanks for the answer that EMC 10 does add more than one jpeg when the add button is used.  Windows drag and drop gets around the bug. tongue.gif  Perhaps Roxio will fix it "when and if" an update is produced for customers that purchased EMC 9.1 rev c.

Never had to do that in 9.0…

As near as I can tell, validate does very little beyond check that the files are still there and compare the filename/pathname limitations of Joliet.

I turned mine off in V3 and have yet to see any adverse results…

Since I don't have Vista there was absolutely no reason to apply the 9.1 update. So I run 9.0.
