Perhaps someone who has had the same problem can help me out?  Every time I launch a Sonic application--My DVD Plus, RecordNow Audio, Copy, etc.--the Windows installer begins re-installing the software and I have to keep clicking on Cancel over and over again until finally it stops trying to re-install.  Then I can use the applications and they work fine.  This is on an HP Pavillion running on Windows XP SP2 Media Center Edition 2005.  Does anyone know why it does this and how I can correct the problem?  It is driving me crazy.

Hello,

It looks as if you are having a problem with the Windows Installer.  It might help you to go to the Microsoft site and have a look at their MS Installer Cleanup Utility, MSICUU2.exe.

The page is here, and it offers instructions as well as a free download of the utility.

The idea is to remove the installer configuration which is causing the problem(s) and then reinstall the affected programs into the same folders as they were originally in (to prevent waste space and duplication of files and folders).

I hope this helps you.

Regards,

Sorry,

If you have a pre-loaded version you will need to go back to your supplier and get another copy of the program he/she gave you.

You might also want to edit your email address if it isn't already too late - these are public Forums, searched by google and other search engines, which in turn are searched by spammers seeking to "harvest" email addesses for spamming purposes. sad.gif
