[b]When I record with an external microphone plugged into my Compaq Presario PC, I can hardly hear what I have recorded, even though I have the volume turned all the way up. The Roxio program (9) records great when you play it back on Realplay or Windows Media, but I'd like to be able to get a decent recording if I want to use the external microphone.
Thanks for your help in advance.

First, you have posted in the EMC 8 forum, yet you say it works with EMC 9 please clarify.
Which ever version you are using, what application are you using to record from your mic and how are you connected to your PC.
More info....details.
Did the Roxio program come pre-installed on your computer...if so contact HP it is their OEM version.

Dear Ogdens:
I have a Compaq Presario PC, use Windows XP, home version, and I bought the CD-ROM for Easy Media Creator 9. Didn't realize that I was in the wrong forum. First time using this. The mic I was using is a dynamic mic by Realistic (Radio Shack). When I record with the external mic, even though I have the volume turned up all the way, I can hardly hear it play back, whether I am playing it from the Sound Editor on the Audio, a CD-R, or Windows Media Player. I sometimes like to make live recordings. If I'm doing something wrong, please tell me.
Thanks for your help in advance.

I couldn't find your newest reply; I forgot the mentioned that I am connected to the Internet via Comcast Highspeed (cable), but I work offline when using Roxio.

Mimi,
I am using a "USB connected" microphone with EMC9 and it works fine. You must be using the mini phone jack to connect your mike to the computer. There may be an impedance mis-match with the mike and the input on your computer. Try using a mike designed for a computer to see if it works then.
My mike is a Logitech USB desktop mike.
Let us know how it works.

Double click on the speaker icon, in the tray, on your desktop. Click on Options/Properties, then click on Recording. Make sure that microphone is checked.
