Hi All
I have installed EMC 10 and I am very pleased with the results but I do have one problem. I researched it on these boards and it seems I may be the only one with this problem.
When I try to open Videowave or My DVD I get the following messages:
"The following must be activated before using this application
MPEG-2
click OK to activate, or cancel to abort."
When I click on OK I get the following message
"No permission - Bad installation."
If I click on cancel Videowave works fine except I can not read MPEG-2 encoded files or burn a DVD.
I have installed a new ATI x1650 video board and suspect that this may be part or all of the problem. Additionally, I ran the Microsoft program that analyzes the existing codec on the machine and it indicates that the current MPEG-2 codec is from Sonic.
So I guess my question is - Is this a compatability issue with this board and/or is there a work around/fix.
Many Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can give.

With version 9 I had a problem and found the following link worked. I just received 10 so have not had a chance to install it, but plan on disabling all startup programs when I install it to just to be safe.

You shouldn't be getting an activation notice in EMC 10, because I believe that Roxio dropped activation in this version.
My guess is that it is some sort of strange carryover from another version on your hard drive. Do you have EMC 9 on your computer, also?

Bruce:
Thanks for the response. Prior to installing EMC 10 I uninstalled EMC 9 and everything Roxio or Sonic on this machine. I did regedit and deleted everything with Roxio or Sonic then, ran msconfig to shut off all startup programs and installed EMC 10. I may have missed something so I will uninstall EMC 10 and do a complete reinstall and let everyone know the results in about two hours.

Bruce, Tom:
Thank You both.
Bruce, you were right about some EMC 9 stuff being left behind.
Tom, the link you gave me was very helpful.
Everything is seems to be working fine now.
Sorry it took so long getting back you. I had trouble logging into the Roxio site last night.
Again, Thanks
Joel
