The Align Function in MYDVD remains "grayed out" no matter what I do. The help file shows numerous options for Align that I don't seem to be able to access. Is the version of MYDVD in EMC 8 in some way crippled? If so, how can I un-cripple it. Must I buy the enhanced version of MYDVD to align objects? Please advise...

There are several versions now. Which do you have? If it is MyDVD 8 Essentials , then this option may indeed not be available to you.

I'm not sure what I have. That's one of the problems. I've got whatever comes with Easy Media Creator 8. The "help/about" window just says that I have MyDVD 8. Do I need to upgrade the MyDVD part of EMC 8 in order to get full function? I just recently upgraded to EMC 8.

The version with EMC8 retail box is the standard version of MyDVD. Silly question, but are you selecting MORE than just one object? You can select more than one object by holding the Control Key while clicking on the thumbnails.

Yes, I am selecting more than one object by holding down Control, just like you show in the attachment. The Align icon is still inactive. I've tried everything I can think of--selecting 2, 3, 4 buttons--selecting different text items--nothing helps. I can make all buttons the same size, so something works. (It seems like a lot of stuff is grayed out, though.) I can also burn DVD's with no problem, so it doesn't seem to be a compatibility issue. I'm using a new(ish) Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows XP.

I purchased the full version off the website and also have this problem (align is always grayed out). I also have a Toshiba, but an M200 Tablet PC.

The product also locks up or crashes with great frequency; so much so that it is not possible to successfully create a DVD using the application.

Have no suggestions since it works perfectly fine for me. Check for updated video drivers and make sure you have the latest DirectX.

For what it is worth, I (re)installed the latest DirectX, and I tried EMC 8 on my other computer. The other computer has a completely different chip-set, operating system, and video card. Guess what? The align function remains inactive. This new version of EMC is WAY too twitchy for me. I should have waited (a few years) until Roxio got the bugs out. I feel like a beta tester. :)
