Hi,

I have DVDit Pro HD v6 on my system for production work, and have just purchased Easy Media Creator v10 Suite for "more routine" tasks.  Problem - installing both on same PC causes one or the other to fail (i.e., will not start, or will error out while starting up).  I have tried different installation order, different "optional" installation directories ("Sonic" for DVDit HD Pro and "Roxio" for EMC 10 Suite), and have even "tried" (unsuccessfully) to specify diferent "shared directories" (in "Program Files\Common Files") - "Sonic Shared" and "Roxio Shared".  If installed "individually" on my system, each app is "very well-behaved" & "happy" on my system.  I am now out of ideas to try toward getting them both installed and "happy" on my system.

So, question is:  What procedure do I have to follow to have both these apps installed and "happy" on the same PC?

Please advise at your earliest convenience.

thanks very much in advance! and best regards... ...jim

PS:  Partial System Config -
- Intel Core Duo, 3.4GH CPU
- 4GB RAM
- ASUS P5WDG2 WS Pro motherboard
- 400GB system disk (and 4TB total data disk)

I just put EMC 10 on my system this week and though I have not done extensive testing, they both seem to be working.  what is the failure you are seeing?

Hi,

First, thanks to both of you for your responsiveness!

The primary problem I'm having is:
(a)  After installing EMC 10 Suite, then installing DVDit Pro HD (v6.3), EMC 10 Suite does not start up properly - I see a little disk activity, and have a cursor with an hour glass for a few seconds, then a typical cursor and no disk activity.
- OR-
(a)  After installing DVDit Pro HD (v6.3), then installing EMC 10 Suite, DVDit Pro HD does not start up properly - the DVDit Pro HD splash screen appears for a few seconds, I see a little disk activity, and have a cursor with an hour glass for a few seconds, then a typical cursor and no disk activity.

I have followed the "clean install" instructions posted here prior to each "pair" of installations.  And, since my original post, I have also done *a lot* of manual registry editing - to remove all references to "roxio" or "sonic" (only those that have nothing to do with *other software* I have on my PC).

I'm sooooo tired of trying to get these two apps to work properly together.  Any suggestions you may have would be *more than welcome*!!!

thanks, and best regards... ...jim

Hi gentlemen,

"Somehow" I managed to get everything working (...for now...). I'm sure that the license/certificate files were part of my problem. What I did to get these two apps to behave themselves (together) is a very long story, but the short story is:
- perform the clean install instructions (posted in the forum)
- "individually RegEdit out" every "roxio" & "sonic" entry that does not
belong to another program
- during this, you'll have to give yourself permissions to the
"Old Roxio (EMCv9, in my case)" "drive emulation" entries
so that you can delete them (may have to go in under "Safe Mode")
- if you have Norton WinDoctor or similar app, run it as a quick diagnostic
- empty trash bin
- run 'msconfig' and disable all Startup's (maybe some Services too)
- reboot
- install EMC 10 Suite
- if you have Norton WinDoctor or similar app, run it as a quick diagnostic
- run 'msconfig' and disable all Startup's (maybe some Services too)
- reboot
- install DVDit Pro HD (v6.3, in my case) (maybe some Services too)
- if you have Norton WinDoctor or similar app, run it as a quick diagnostic
- run 'msconfig' and disable all Startup's (maybe some Services too)
- reboot
- run 'msconfig' and enable all Startup's & Services
- reboot, ("Normal Boot"), all desired Startup's and Services
- start EMC 10 Suite, and run a few "embedded apps"
- (cross your fingers) and start DVDit Pro HD, & create a project
- start EMC 10 Suite again, and run a few "embedded apps"
- (cross your fingers) and start DVDit Pro HD again, & create a project
- hope like "heck" that during your "RegEditing" that you've only changed
things for the better :-)

Hope some of this may be of help to others.

thanks again...

best regards... ...jim
