I'm not sure if I'm asking this in the right way; so, forgive me if my lingo sucks.

I'm getting close to buying the new Hitachi blu ray hybrid HD camcorder. I don't just want to burn blu ray discs. I want to edit the blu ray material I create or even mix it up with pictures and other video that may not be blu ray format. Can I join all the above on videowave and do a movie? I know I won't get blu ray quality overall for the videowave production. I don't have the camcorder yet; so, I can't try this out for myself. I want to buy a camcorder that will coexist with software I use and like.

Does it make a difference if I upgrade to Creator 10 for this purpose? What do I gain upgrading over Creator 9 for blu ray?

It appears that that Blueray support in EMC 10 has been removed. MyDVD 9 burns BDAV while most other software supports BDMV. I'm not really sure what the difference is, but I would research it before making a purchase.

I'm not so sure that Blu Ray support was changed at all from v9 to v10. It appears v10 added support tho for the other HD DVD format.

This is the v9 supportted formats page

and this is the v10 one

I'm not sure how helpful they'll be giving a definitive answer tho. There also hasn't been any users really posting in regards to blu ray or hddv in the EMC forums as yet. Most blu ray discussions have taken place in the DVDiT section for that product.

It may be best to either post the question in the EMC 10 Sales Question area and/or contact them directly to get specifics:

If you're importing the video from the camera, it shouldn't matter what the recording media is as all the computer will see will be the data and, so long as the external device (the camera) is able to read the media, EMC will import it, provided it's in a recognisable format and the necessary codecs are installed.

Mounting the blu-ray disc in the computer is a different matter tho

Wow, I'm suprised more people are not getting into blu ray yet. I may hold off on my purchase until more is known in this area. I'm not much of a pioneer. Maybe, I'll go with a format that's more common for HD.

I appreciate all your comments.

Most of us here remember the VHS/Beta setup of years back and we're all holding off until either one is a clear winner or (more likely) a dual-standard drive is more common
