Hi,
I am sorry ahead of time if I am in the wrong forum, but I could not find the exact one I needed....
Hope somebody out there can help me!! I made a move using Windows Movie Maker, mixing video, songs, and captions. I saved it to my computer, and it runs great, about 98 minutes long. I downloaded Roxio MYDVD 9 studio premiere. First of all, whenever I try to open it I get a 'buffer overrun detected' warning which shuts down the program. When I did have the program up, I went to burn a dvd. I found my finished and saved movie file on my external hard drive, and directed Roxio to it. It found it and brought it in and I burned it. It burned fine, but for some reason certain photos that lasted say 5 seconds on the original movie only flashed for a second on the dvd. This obviously threw off the audio track as everything was coordinated, as well as made for a strange movie as things would, from time to time, just pop up and disappear right away.  I went back and re-imported the movie to the preview box to see if it happened there, and it plays it incorrectly there as well(the same way it burned it). I went back and played my movie file on windows media player, and it worked perfectly as it should. I downloaded a 'file to dvd' burn program, burned the original movie file to dvd, then played the dvd back on my computer. That also worked great. So the original file is fine, but Roxio is having trouble reading it or playing it.

Any thoughts?
thanks so much.

Easy test: Create a similar project with Roxio and burn it to a DVD RW disc.

If it works, then you previous creation is the problem.

If it doesn't, come back and we will work on it.

Also , if you don't mind, post your computer information.  Sometimes problems like this occur because of hardware problems with encoding and burning.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

It took 3 weeks and 40ish hours to create that movie....my family will never talk to me again if I disappear to make another one!!  Why would the Movie Maker version work, and the independent DVD file burner, but not the Roxio?
thanks

Because of your hardware.  It is iffy if you can encode and burn at the same time.  When you add your movie to MyDVD , make your menus, etc and go to burn, select burn to ISO file and uncheck the rest of the options.  Name and select the place where you want the file to be save.  Let it encode.  Make sure you have nothing else running at that time.  Go and talk to the family for several hours.  When the file encodes, then copy that ISO file to your disc using Disc Copier.
