Dear all,
I need some help and recommendations ugrently, can you kindly assist?
I burned my data to DVD +R (about 20 pcs) using Sonic (this software is bundle with my Dell Inspiron).
Last month, Sonic give me a lot of problem, when I eject the Drive, it give me a "Blue Screen". So I decided to remove the software... but somehow, due to some unexpected problem. I formatted my HDD and return to Factory default.
After that I realised, I have lost my Sonic Installation CD. So I requested Roxio Creator MyDVD Combo LE from Dell.
After installation, I can't view the Data on my DVDs.
From "My Computer" D: is 0 bytes (Total Size and Free Space)
but in Roxio Creator MyDVD Combo LE, the following appear
Tools>Disc Information>
Inserted Disc
Disk Type : DVD+R, Closed, Data
Number of Zones: 1
Free Space: 0.00MB (0 Sectors)
Used Space: 3,050.6MB (1,561,920 Sectors)
Please help,
Regards,
Peter Low

You have now discovered why it is not a good idea to -
- use the eject button when WinXP isn't finished
- use Packet-Writing (where you format the disc - Sonic's DLA, Roxio's Drag2Disc, Nero's InCD, etc) as a long-term backup, instead of a Sessions-based program like Sonic's Data Disc or Roxio's Creator Classic, or even the built-in WinXP burning (altho admittedly WinXP can't burn to DVDs).
Try one of the recovery programs, such as cdroller (www.cdroller.com) or ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com) - both have impressive testimonials on their websites and in the Roxio boards. Both have a "trial" Version that lets you see if anything can be recovered before you have to pay.
Let us know how it goes. The fact that you used R media increases the odds of recovery.

Dear Lynn,
I do not how to express my sincere thanks to your help... all my DVDs can be viewed now but yet to be retrieved. Somehow I think everything will be OK.
I downloaded both the software, both have their strong point. I'm yet to decide which one to purchase.
A big Thank you again, Lynn
