Mine too. I went to Eugene towatch the ducks play in a three day tourney and when I came backeverytime I drag video files into Toast window it quits. I have tried unplugging the computer for an hour and then re-booting, 2) trashing the app and downloading and installing 6.1 again. It does see other files, like word docs. Also the SuperDrive it sees my Mac's Burn Folder and burns DVDs but they are not the sort that play on home DVD players.
Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if this happened after updating QuickTime to 7.3?

You are right!. I will check the apple site to get back to the older version. Do you think this affects the latest Toast Version?

Just got off the phone with Media 100 and they said not to install latest version of QT. I am going back to older version cause my Media 100 is acting up ---not as bad as Toast but not good.

FIX. The only way I was able to lose QT 7.3 was to do a clean install of Tiger and then when doing the SW updates DELETING the QT 7.3 from teh Update box and then downloading 7.2. Big hassle, but the only thing I could do that worked.

wow! was that great to get Toast working again. I burned a DVD with iDVD and boy did it suck so it went where the damage would be minimal. Sure is nice to get it working again. Liked the beauty of it so well I bought a copy of Toast 8 on Ebay for $49 with shipping. With license.

I have Toast 6.1.1. Started crashing whenever I tried to burn a CD (audio) on my LaCie d2. If I get this correctly, it's due to QT 7.3 or iTunes 7.5. It started when I was still using OS 10.4.10, now I'm on 10.4.11 and I'm considering going to 10.5. If I spring for Toast 8, will everything work?

Buy Toast 8 as a download from the Roxio site and they have a money back guarantee if you find that it doesn't meet your needs. But Toast 8.0.3 is compatible with the current OS and Quicktime.

Just a word of caution. QT 7.4 effects anything that deals with QT files. So if yoiu are using an editor that uses QT files contact your manufacturer before upgrading QT again. I use Media 100 Producer and of course I called AFTER I loaded QT 7.4 and the system was crashing and was told never to upgrade QT without contacting them! I needed to re-install Media 100 and re-link all the clips etc. Major PITA. So if you are using anyting besides FCP or iMovie contact the supplier. Apple in their attempt to drive out all the competition does not send out Beta or Alpha versions to vendors in the hopes that you will switch to FCP which they obsolete every two years and after three years refuse to support. WHen I bought my first Media 100 15 yrs ago it was based on NuBus techonology. Long after the architechture was a dinosaur they continued to support it. In fact Media 100 still suports everying but the ancient NuBus. WOuld anyone like to buy a complete version with all books and disks of FCP4? How about FCP5? I didn't think so which is why I own no Apple SW. Love the stability of the machine since my first , dare I say----- Apple II but other than that Stevie can bite me. ANd I can say that cause I was a media consultant to apple from 1980-84. Exchanged plenty of unpleasantries with Jobs. Everything negative you have heard aboiut him is true. It was Woz that created the Apple and Jobs that made Apple Computer.

I can't upgrade to 8 because my machine is old, so I guess I am stuck using the old version of Toast 6 unless I want to completely reinstall my OS? That's a shame, the version I am using is ok, but seems to confuse stereo channels on the burned DVD.

How did you download QT v7.2? Where do you find this?

I run OS 10.3.9, Panther. Will a clean install as you did also work?
