Eight months ago I switched from Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 to 9.0.

I use Roxio 9.0 exclusively to burn video files and back up my Personal Home Recorded DVD movies archive.

I burn Microsoft Recorded TV Shows with Roxio 7.5 and 9.0 no problems.

I've used both 7.5 and 9.0 to back up my Personal Home Recorded DVD movies   No Problem.

The problem occurred this week when I used 9.0 to back up my Personal Home Recorded DVD movies collection.

Problem, when I use Roxio Easy Media Creator 9.0 to burn DVD's I generally have at least 20 to 50 GB of Hard Disk Space on my computer.

All of a Sudden with each DVD I burn I'm losing hard disk space on my PC.

If I back up and burn eight (8) or nine (9) movies I bought. I cannot copy another movie until I delete more files.

Roxio 9.0 says not enough space on C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\

This doesn't make sense. This has never happened before until this week.

I've depleted 50 GB of hard disk space.

I'm aware using copy DVD movies to burn HOME MOVIES to a temp folder. After burning to the temp folder. Hard disk space is supposed to be returned to NORMAL.

When I go up to Roxio 9.0 TOOLS Menu Bar I click on OPTIONS. The General Options screen comes up. Everything is unchecked to include Always save copies to hard drive. Priority is set to Normal.

Under General Options:

Create Log File: unchecked

C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\

Cache Directory: unchecked

C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\

What is the problem and why is my hard drive space MYSTERIOUSLY being DEPLETED???!!!

I checked to see if I can find this temp folder C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ and I cannot. I've searched all week long.

I now need Professional Help.  

Can you tell me how to locate the aforementioned Temp file???!!! I've tried cleaning CD Storage Space with Windows Washer for the first time in a year. I recovered 146 files which equaled 3.5 GB of space that wasn't the problem.

I've burned Personal Recorded DVD movies with Roxio 9.0 and never encountered this problem until this week.

Is this a common occurance with Roxio 9.0  

Is not the Temp Folder supposed to be Depleted after DVD burning???!!! When I check my C:\ Drive and click on dtemp the folder is empty.

An aside, I am using an HP Media Center PC, Specs on the System, Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630 3.0 GHz with H T Technology, Memory, 1024 MB DDR Ram, Hard Drive 200 GB, with optional 160 GB External Hard Drive.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

I've used both 7.5 and 9.0 to back up my commercially bought DVD Releases, No Problem.

That is illegal in the US and Canada, Roxio doesn't allow talk of it here.

As far as not being able to find C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\  is concerned:

First, that is an 8.3-abbreviated version of C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Adninistrator\Local Settings\temp

(I'm guessing at HP_administrator: it is the name of your user account, so you should be able to decide what it is if my guess was wrong)

Second, to see it in Windows explorer, you need to go control panel, Folder options, View tab, check Show hidden files and folders, click apply, OK. You should then be able to navigate to that temp folder in Windows Explorer.

BTW this is a user to user forum. We come here in our spare time to learn and occasionally help each other. Starting off with a somwhat imperious 'for immediate reply' may get some users' backs up and be counterproductive :-).

Immediate Reply was used because I've posted in other Forums and received a response within 72 hrs or longer. When I asked why the loooong response time. The Moderator and/or Resident Expert(s) replied it was because I didn't state 'For Immediate Response'

Each Forum has its own house rules???!!!

I must've had a Senior Moment. I forgot how to find Hidden Files.

Located the Temp File, nothing in it except a 12 KB Text File.

Problem not solved.

I've changed to context of my Original Post requested by cd. Is it possible to you or cd to address the issue of my Hard Drive being Depleted when I burn HOME MOVIES in Roxio 9.0 copy DVD movies?

Have you tried to remove temp files under the Tools/Options menu? That's a good place to start.  Also, you might find all types of junk in your Documents and Settings folder.
Finally, right click your hard drive while in MyComputer and choose Properties and then choose Disc Cleanup to remove temp files from your whole drive.

there is no box to check for Cache Directory in Disc Copier! What drive is it set for the OS drive?
Have you emptied the recycle bin lately? If not do and reboot.

The box's have to be checked in Disc Cleanup for it to work per Beermans suggestion

Yep, sorry, I didn't include enough detail.  Here's the shot that might help.Haven't checked my XP in too long (use Vista mostly nowadays) and found I've got lots to throw out myself.

Paul:

Disk clean up would've taken to looooong. One option was to compress files on Drive C:\ which would've taken seveal hours. The other was to compress files, folders and sub-folders which would've taken 10 days and 34 minutes.

Disk Cleanup doesn't take very long at all.  I'm not sure if you're talking about the same thing I am.  However, I am interested in what tech support told you so please post that when you have a chance.
