With other authoring software I have used, files that have been transcoded succesfully, remain transcoded when reopening project i.e. You only have to transcode once... it saves the transcoded files in a cache of some sort.
Every time I burn in DVDit Pro HD it seems that it has to re-encode every time even when the project hasn't been closed.
Is this normal or am I missing something?
In an attempt to bypass the transcoding process I read up on the file types that run straight through without transcoding. I used the DVD mastering preset in procoder3 (creates .m2v and .wav files), yet it still had to process a what I thought was a "to spec" mpeg file.
Can anyone help? I have already waisted a day trying to author a simple menu with 2x 30 min files.
I have also received various error messages (reach end of file etc) but I am running through the forums at night to try to solve this as I believe there are various posts on these issues.
Anyway thanks in advance
Paul

Here is what I have been doing to work around a problem I have with DVDit Pro
(ignoring my chapter points with files exported from Compressor 3 on a mac)

under "File", "project settings", "HD Transcoding", I turn on "Convert all compliant video and audio files"

under "File","Preferences", "temporary storage", I have it use a directory I can find and I turn off the "Delete the temporary files every time I exit the application.

Then I "Burn" , "Write Volume".

After DVDit Pro is finished, I replace the video and audio files with the files created by DVDit Pro in the "temporary storage" area.

The last step is to tell the program NOT to convert all compliant video and audio files"

From this point on, everything works like it is supposed to work.
