Does any  know if you can burn any brand of DVD/CD in a Lightscribe burner? I know that to burn the labels, you need a Lightscribe DVD/CD, but I referring to burning information on the actual disc to play in a player.

You can burn any brand of media. However, there are some brands that are better than others. Avoid Memorex and most store brands.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Ugh! Just bought a case of Memorex Injet DVDs. They should cooperate, right?

They may be fine. Insert a disc and choose Disc Info from the Toast Recorder menu. In the window that appears there is a hot link to a site where users submit reports on the burn reliability of different media. See if the report looks promising to you. I do recommend choosing a burn speed slower than Best and checking to make sure you have the latest firmware update for your Lightscribe drive.

For LightScribe you need special Lightscribe media!

Your Inkjet DVD's will work fine in a Printer, which allows direct printing to disk, but not in a Lightscribe burner for Lightscribe labeling.

Regret, I didn't interpret your question right. As posted before a lightscribe burner should be able to burn all the media and all the filetyps a normal burner can handle. It only has the additional feature for burning Lightscribe labels.
