You need to update the firmware for that burner. You can get it at the following site:
http://www.benq.us/support/downloads/downl...ads&dtype=D
If the tray on your BenQ has BenQ on it, download and install the BBIA firmware. If it doesn't say BenQ on the front, download the one above it. You double click on the file to install it.
Make sure you don't have anything running when you flash, and make sure that you don't have a disc in the drive. Also, don't shut down the computer until the flash is done.

Upgrade went fine but still have problems in Roxio 8. I goto DATA DISC. Drag 3.9 Gig of Folders into the list and in the lower left is says 3.3GB over. It assumes I am copying to CD's. How can I change this so it recognizes DVD's. If I put a DVD into the tray it checks for 15 seconds then kicks it out.

I don't have EMC 8 on my computer, but try this. Click on the desktop Roxio icon. Then click on Tools. If there is a Disc information button, click on it, and see if Roxio recognizes your burner.
Also, instead of clicking on Data Disc, open Creator Classic, and add those same files a project by dragging them down to the Data Disc box, below left. Then, in the dropdown box, by Disc size, change it to DVD 4.7GB.

If so - remove them and roll back. They are back ports from Vista and will cause problems with EMC8

Yes it recognizes the player.
I tried Creator Classic. I select the 4.7GB DVD but when I insert the DVD the BURN SETUP window just sits there with the OK button grayed out.

Yes I do have IE7 and Media Player 11 with WinXP. Guess I need to upgrade my Roxio software, not going to roll back Microsoft software.

Anyone who has been working with computers full time will advise you to get rid of both of them
IE7 is NOT W3C compliant by any manner of means (browser of choice for most of us here is Firefox)
WMP11 has far tighter DRM than any preceding variant (wait until you find that it demands proof that you are able to play whatever it is in the form of 'certificates')

Not sure what you mean by lots of other problems with IE7. Have not seen any. I am using an old version of Roxio though and will upgrade to v10 to see if that fixes my problems. I would not recommend to anyone to downgrade to IE6, many things were fixed between IE6 and IE7. Yes Microsoft does have it's problems but they make good stuff to. Firefox is a nice browser but they have their problems as well as do all software vendors, just too many variables, in my opinion. See following link for a Firefox problem:

As for problems with apps - use google and find out
I have never once had any problem with Firefox with browsing or causing problems with apps
In fact - ask yourself why, if IE7 is so critical, that MS actually tell you how (and supply the software) to block it from installing as an 'update'

Microsoft makes many good things. But, IE7 and Vista aren't among the good things.
