dvd burning software has run happily until last few days when video from avi files transcodes and imports, but mydvd cancels audio transcoding and shuts down.Have tried reinstall of software but problems persist.
DVD Rw drive is a philips dvd+rw dvd8701-don't know whether this is linked but have also noticed that autoplay for dvds/cds is not operational.Anybody have any similiar experiences and any solutions out there?

Check with Dell it is their OEM software. Go here http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums...=0&nav=true and see if any other users of this OEM software have the same problem.

Have had extednded phone conversations with dell uk tech support who frankly don't have a clue as to what's going on, to the extent of directing me to website for non-existent drive firmware upgrades.have also emailed roxio/sonic product support requesting advice-they haven't even bothered to respond.Hence the question and request for help.Another dvd creation program downloaded for free runs happily but more slowly.
dell website is full of problems with this particular dvd-rw drive, but none particular to this specific case.Easy emough to palm users off to the likes of dell, but how about a constructive suggestion other than the obvious?

However, if it had been working well and suddenly isn't, the likliest problem is some change - update, upgrade, new software, new hardware - is the cause.
Did you make any changes between the last time it worked correctly and when it quit working correctly, aside from the burning program added after the problem started?

Only thing I can think of is upgraded Windows media player from vesrion 10 to 11-however, rolled it back again after problem developed without any effect.no other new software/hardware has been installed.

With WinPlayer 11 removed, if you try a reinstall of the program that will very likely fix it.

FYI
Instructions for IE 7 and WMP 11 roll back.
