I have a computer where I'm using 51+ GB.  My new external hard drive came with "Backup MyPC", so I backed up my PC.  The size of the QIC file is 4.56 GB.  That's some major compression!

I want to know if this is normal, or if there was likely an error in the backup.

It sounds like your external hard drive was still formatted for FAT32. The compression on BUMP at best is 2 to 1.
If you have not formatted the external drive as NTFS, I suggest you do so.

Actually, the hard drive is formatted NTFS.  I initially tried to use BUMP via the "advanced" method.  I'll try it again using it's "quick default" method.  Maybe I screwed something up.

But thanks much for the response  biggrin.gif

The reason why I mentioned FAT32 is that 4gb is the file size limit for FAT32. The only other reason why it would be a 4gb size is if it thought it was a DVD. Also, even with the file size limit for FAT32, there should be multiple files of that size.
