A lady from my church is trying to back up a CD on her new Computer. It has Vista. She is using Roxio 9.

When she grabs the songs from the CD and tries to burn them from MP3 to a blank CD it says

"Problem in writing to the disc"

This also happens in Media Player. It is almost like the burner doesn't like the CD.

It cannot burn DVD's either.

It is all brand new.

My first thought is that there is a problem with Vista and Roxio 9.

Is there a patch that may fix this?

We'll need more detail. How is she copying the cd? If it's a commercial cd, it may have copy protection and not allow a cd to cd copy. The fact that it happens in Windows Media Player seems to confirm that may be the case as DRM in Vista is on steroids.
When you mention DVD's however, it sounds like it could be a problem with the burner of the media. So, first, make sure you have the latest firmware for the dvd burner, then try another brand of media and see what happens. But, please post back with more detail.

im a newbie
but
was advised to uninstall drag to disc as it may have compatability issues
this may help
and use classic creator or another progam to burn
