Hi
Have used recordnow Dx for many years without any problems, and then suddenly  it would not see any drives on computer.

I thought I would update my software so bought RecordNow deluxe 7 but this also does not seem to recognise any drives. I insert a cd to copy some tracks to another cd, but recordnow deluxe does not see any disc which ever drive I use internal or external. Have been on to Freecom, my external drive and downloaded new firmware, but this made no difference. What should I try next? Not very technically minded and RecordNow used to work so well, am getting really frustrated!

Larry

Thanks for getting back to me
Have downloaded the Px Engine and run that , did a reboot, and tried RecordNow again, but still drives did not recognise that a disc had been inserted. Have tried all sorts of different discs. Is there something else I could try?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes windows see the drive and the options of what drive to use on RecordNow also show, but when I insert a disc to record from the disc is not recognised, it keeps saying "insert a disc". Have tried all sorts of discs, some that I recorded from before all these problems started. I load the software, I have the option of two drives to write discs., put in disc, not recognised. I can press find in the left hand column and find drive "E" and the tracks are there. But they will not add, and on the top of recordNow it still says "insert disc".

(I have realised what I have been saying is wrong, RecordNow sees the drives, but not the discs inserted.)
Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for looking

(1) what kind of drive is it?  A combo drive (reads/writes CDs, reads DVDs)?  A DVD burner?  What kind of media are you using?  Is it the same kind you've used before?

(2) Since the last time you successfully burned discs, have you downloaded (or allowed auto-updates to download) Internet Explorer 7 and/or WinPlayer 11?

Hi Lynn
I have a cd drive that writes cd's and reads dvd (internal) and an external Freecom Drive that reads /writes cd's and dvd+/- and dual layer. I don't mind which one I use.
Yes have auto updates and IE7 has been downloaded.
I dont record that often and can't remember if this problem started after such downloads but it is quite possible.
So what should I try

Hi again,

Followed the link, and removed Windows Media player 11, tried record now but still didn't work. I then removed IE7 and now both RecordNow Dx and recordNow deluxe 7 both work fine.

Does this mean that I will have to keep to IE6 while I want to use recordnow. I had recordnow downloaded before I upgraded to IE7. If I upgrade to IE7 and then install Recordnow Deluxe7 - would that work?

Many thanks for your help

If everything is working with IE 6, leave it alone.

This problem with IE 7 isn't exclusive to Roxio. Internet Explorer also broke lots of other programs and even some Internet Service providers programs.

Internet Explorer 7 was developed to work with Windows Vista.

Most of the main contributors on this forum use Mozilla Firefox.

Hi Again

Managed to record a disc from several others and it recorded great. But when I went to record again the next day, both recordNow Dx  and recordNow deluxe 7 wouldn't work again. Both programs would not see any cd's in the drivesas before.  Have tried commercial cd's and homemade, nothing is recognised by my drives.

The only thing that I have done since then was to remove and then add my printer software (printer stopped working for some reason Don't know if this is relevant or not. Printer working ok, but still have to find out why Ink status monitor will not work, so am talking to Epson as well.)

From previous reply -When I took off Windows Media 11 and I believe
it rolled back to a previous version, but when I looked at Add and Remove programmes section, I could not see any reference to any media player. Again this may not be relevant.

Thanks

Hi
Had similar problem. Record Now Deluxe 7.2 worked fine for years then suddenly it would not reconise drivers.
Surfed web for umpteen solutions but none worked.
Solved problem by deleting Record Now from my C:drive and reinstalling to my E:drive.
This is the advantage of partitioning your hard drive with more than one  partition.
