I used EMC 7 faithfully for three years, and have generated dozens of VideoWave projects. I upgraded to EMC 9 because I thought it would be the bigger better deal. But my EMC 7 projects won't open. When I try to open them I get Microsoft's default "We have encountered an error and must close" message. I have tried repairing EMC 9, I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have asked Roxann, searched the knowledge base, and searched the message boards. I cannot find any answers.
It simply has to be possible to open EMC 7 projects in EMC 9.
Any help you can offer would be great.
By the way, I'm running a Radeo X300 Series graphics card
Pentium 4 processor
1.5 G ram
320 G Harddrive
Windows XP
I hope that covers it.
Thanks!

Unfortunately EMC 7/7.5 projects cannot be used in EMC 9 except for perhaps the most simple projects. You are best to finish your projects in EMC 7/7.5 or start over in EMC 9.

That is so sad.
Are all Roxio EMCs the same that way? Can you manipulate previous versions in any of the EMCs? What I hear you saying is that my "upgrade" to EMC 9 was a misnomer. I didn't upgrade, I bought brand new software. How frustrating.
Is that documented anywhere on Roxio, that you can't manipulate EMC 7/7.5 in EMC 9? Where did I fail to read that fine print before purchasing my new software?
Thanks for the information. I've been so frustrated, especially after reading this Roxio Message Board Post in my searchings for information.
Thanks again.

Many of us went through the same frustration when upgrading. I kept 7.5 on my computer and finished my 7.5 projects.
EMC 10 will take EMC 9 projects with no problem, so it looks like Roxio has started working the backwards comaptibility.
Life is good!
