We just installed EMC 9 and now it wont permit us to use it.  When in any video or audio application for a few minutes it shuts down and restarts the computer.  Updating my Intel Extreme Graphics video driver didnt help any, still freezes and restarts.  After crashing, the "MS - Blue Screen" reports some info like " ck BIOS updates, disable BIOS memory options like caching or shadowing"  (is this a good idea)??

It also listed some Tech Info like oxoooooo8jE and some more data (???)  .  I am trying to get  HP provided BIOS updates next, but I am running out of ideas.  Any help will be most appreciated, thanks in advance.  Hopefully my signature inlcudes my system information.   I also cked and seem to have the latest version of our integrated Soundmax Integrated Digital Audio driver, at least HP does not list any recent drivers to update with, nor does the manufacturer.  what to try?

Did you also install the latest DirectX from Microsoft? This is not an automatic update and does require to be manually downloaded and installed

That chipset you have is also an on board one (not a dedicated graphics card) and utilises system RAM - this is usually poorer than using a dedicated graphics card. Can you let us know if it's a desktop or laptop and also how much RAM has been allocated to the graphics, as well as how much system RAM you have?
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

HI, and thanks for helping.  Yes, it is an HP desktop, with an integrated sound card with the mother board; we have 1GB of Ram installed.  Graphics memory is 64MB per DXdiag info (page file is 495MB with 1199 MB available).  Have direct X9.0c.  MS says DirectX10 is only for the Vista OS.

Your problem is almost certainly the graphics chipset using system memory - you really need a dedicated graphics card (either nVidia or ATI)
