An Open Letter to Roxio

On these boards, you will find posts form Roxio to the effect that Toast 7 and Popcorn 2 will be updated for Leopard but they were addressing Toast 8 and Popcorn 3 first. Those latter programs were fixed a few weeks ago and as recently as last week Roxio advised me on the phone that updates for the older programs would be out soon.
On Wednesday, however, I received the following from Roxio:
A Roxio Agent has responded to your ticket! (#XXXXXX)
Thank you for contacting Roxio Technical Support
There are no plans on patching Toast 7 to be compatible with Leopard. You will need to upgrade to Toast 8.
The Roxio Agent did not address Popcorn 2. If I need to upgrade to Popcorn 3 or Toast 8, then I will make a decision to do so. On the other hand, I do not want to upgrade only to find out the patch(es) are going to be released.
I am not posting here to complain. I am posting here so Roxio tells us loyal customers (I previously upgraded to Popcorn 2 from 1 and to Toast 7 from 6) what the plans are so I can make an informed decision. I previously did not upgrade because the new features are not that important to me. The lack of Leopard compatibility, however, is another thing.
I have read I can “downgrade” to Popcorn 2.0 which I suppose is an alternative but having the full story would certainly help decide what to do.
I am posting this on the Popcorn 2 and Toast 7 Boards.

As a follow-up to my original post, a $59.99 upgrade price to Toast 8 is pretty steep if the only reason one is upgrading is for Leopard compatibility. (This is almost half the price of Leopard.) Perhaps Roxio could offer a deeper discount for those who can provide a proof of purchase for Leopard. Obviously, a free patch is best.
By the way, I use Elgato’s EyeTV so having Toast (which is well integrated with EyeTV) is pretty important and the fact that it is broken with Leopard is a source of aggravation. In my case, by the way, the only program I am having this type of issue with is Toast 7 and Popcorn 2.

I've been supporting Roxio and Toast for 5 years and I'm in the middle of transferring all our Super8 and VHS home movies to DVD. This involves over 200Gb of video and still no update from Roxio. The pat answer is to upgrade to v8. OK, I go to the upgrade site and decide I'll upgrade from Popcorn 1.0 to 3.0 while I'm at it. The price is $29.99 so I go ahead and click on my location - Canada. The price jumps to $34.99 even though I intend to pay with my USD bank account and in spite of the fact that the Canadian dollar is at or near par with the US dollar. Nope, just because I live in Canada it's 17% more to buy Popcorn and I imagine it's another $10 or more to buy Toast with US funds. Five years I've supported this software and the only solution to getting Toast 7 to work with Leopard is to upgrade to Toast 8 even though I don't need the added features and I have to pay more. This is really impressive. NOT.

There is ~NOTHING~ in Toast 8 that I want or need, other than a continued path for updates with Leopard. All the new ~Features~ in Toast 8 don't interest me in the least and I will not be upgrading to it. All I want from Toast is a stable CD/DVD authoring program at the simplest level. For anything more complex I have Final Cut Studio. I don’t want anything to do with Tivo since I’m using a cable box. I backup to hard drives (now with Time Machine), not DVDs.
I will be happy with Toast 7 for a long time.

Popcorn $29.99 + Toast 59.99 should be ~$90 USD which would be around £45 UK. How can they charge you tax? When did Digital River, a US firm, start acting as a tax collector for Inland Revenue?
