Yes, I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on this. I am having trouble getting my dvd burned.

This is what happens now, I bought new dvds--Sony dvd-r to see if that would fix my problem cuz I was told that different media could be the problem. I had used Maxell before that and it didnt work either.
I did get it to burn onto a maxell dvd rw and it will play on my computer fine but not on my dvd player in the living room with my tv. There is just video no audio in there.

I checked for updates on all my drivers and there is none for it. I just bought my computer brand new from Dell in July.

I just tried to burn some minis and it came up with a "MPEG audio format not being compaitble with some NTSC players." And it froze at the encoding 4 of 5 part of the burning process. The overall progress of this burn is at 97%. That is what it did to me earlier today with the other brand of media. I cant even get it to burn now at all. So I am getting worse instead of better.

I talked with Roxio on chat today and they said that getting different dvds than memorex would maybe fix it. And to get -R not + R cuz they are more compatible.

They also said that my Dell version of Roxio should work to burn dvds.
I have Vista Basic Home version.

I have a whole years worth of minis waiting to be burned to dvds. And I am really needing help bad. I am lost and wondering if anyone can help me.

Someone told me to try hardware mode versus software so I tried that too and it didnt help.

I would really appreciate any kind of help ---I am new to all of this.

Another thing I thought that I would tell ya is that in the preview screen there is no sound on it either when I preview my project.

When I saved them to my hard drive I made a new folder and I right clicked and copied them to that folder. I have BUP, Ifo & vob files there but I can not play them by clicking on them.
But one thing I did notice is that when I go to add them to my menu the BUP files are missing in my project. I have all the other files but not those. Could that be a problem & how do i fix it?
Thanks ~ Kay

Kay, I think you may have confused people by starting at the end product but continuing on to indicate that your problem may be at the beginning. That is, it is not the burnig that is giving you the problem; it is much earlier.

First since you have no sounds from those VOB files you copied to your hard drive, the problem may with Vista recognizing your sound device properly. There are several recent post on how to make this correction. I don't have Vista so I know of the posts but I did not pay attention to the directions.

Second, a lot of people do not have any issue with running EMC 9 with Vista, some may. There is an update to make EMC 9 fully compatible. Again search for EMC 9.1

You may also have a codec issue that I've seen recently on these forums. Download and run GSpot. Add one of the videos and it will give you the video and audio codec used. If you do not have one of the codecs it will tell you which one you need to download.

That will be your homework for today. If you now get audio when you play the VOB files in WMP or CinePlayer, go to Video Wave and start adding your videos and then editing them. Save the project and also output the project to a mpg2 for DVD best (file). If there is an encoding problem you should find it there. Once the file is encoded, try playing that mpg file in WMP or CinePlayer. If you have audio, then you are good to go.

I prefer to go the ISO route rather than the folder route from MyDVD but that is your preference.
